1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/22/2022

Was making a left turn and the vehicle lost power mid turn. It has done this once before while I was driving straight. The car does not shut off or sputter. On this occasion I pushed the start button to cut the car off and restarted and it was fine however I could have been hit because the car lost power as if it was in neutral or another gear while I was turning on a protected flashing yellow. The previous time when it randomly lost power when I was driving. I put it in park, then drive and it was fine but I was on a busy street when this happened and could have been rear ended.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/21/2022

The 8. 4 uconnect screen is delaminating. It is a known issue with fca vehicles and fca is denying they know anything about it because it is a very expensive head unit to replace.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2022

The uconnect screen has a bubble from delamination of the screen components, and has been causing distracting "phantom" screen touches, flashing the screen between apps, and making unintended changes to screen settings. The driver is forced to ignore whatever the screen is doing until it's safe to divert attention. This problem was confirmed by a Jeep dealer, but Jeep customer service declined to pay to fix the faulty component.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2022

Unknown the display panel lamination is becoming unlaminated and my phone display calls the right number but displays the wrong contact picture and disconnects from bluetooth randomly which causes unsafe conditions where I have to take focus off of driving to correct which means in that moment I am no longer operating hands free which defeats the purpose of hands free operations. The date below is not correct for it is like I said random. But the form made me choose a date.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2022

Infotainment, hvac car control screen DE-lamination. Screen bubbling up and randomly selecting functions that are not user selected. Like ghost button presses randomly while driving the car.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2022

Uconnect screen. Just started “ghost touching”. While driving down the road, the screen continually jumps around, never stopping. Backup camera came on while driving 55 mph. Heated seats kept coming on. Ac was on, but transferred to heater on its own. I had to pull over because of the distractions. Was told, and read on forums, that this was a very common problem with this vehicle. There were no warnings before this happened. I am scheduling an appt with Jeep dealership. I was told since car was out of warranty I would probably have to pay out of pocket. Seems there should be a recall since they know this defect exists, and could cause wrecks.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2022

The touch screen, infotainment system began to delaminate over a year ago and started experiencing phantom touches when the radio was on (station changes, playlist changes). This has gotten increasingly worse and the heat, ac, and backup camera now turning on and off, uncontrollably.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2022

The screen on the car’s infotainment system is delaminating and I cannot use the touch screen in the delaminated areas. This is preventing hands-free capabilities while driving since touch is the only way to navigate the system and posing a safety hazard. It is preventing access to the federally mandated backup camera and vehicle controls. The touch screen will sometimes “ghost touch” options without the user touching the screen, causing the system to randomly turn on the radio, make calls, activate climate control, and more. It is progressively getting worse and is present in many other 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees. It is a manufacturing defect causing distractions while driving and should be recalled.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2022

My radio console is starting to delaminate causing my console to constantly be jumping around and unable to use. Jeep dealership is aware of the problem. It poses as a threat for daily driving to hands free options as well as unable to use my navigation features, climate settings and most anything dealing with the touchscreen. This issue needs to be recalled or fixed.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/13/2022

My radio has failed just 4 years 2 months after purchase. It skips all over the place and then the navigation comes on without me engaging it and it is a huge distraction when I am trying to concentrate on the road. I bought this vehicle brand new!!! now I’m scared to death driving it with all these distractions especially on a very busy highway.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2022

When I brought the vehicle to florida the screen on the navigation system delaminated. It causes the navigation screen to make random phone calls when it’s turned on and it also will not display the navigation map in a way that is usable. It is a defect caused by the heat- there were no issues until I brought the car to FL. Additionally, when it’s cool outside, the system can be used even with the screen being delaminated. But as soon as it heats up it is not usable and actually is dangerous because the random phone calls while driving is very distracting.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2022

Digitizer malfunction almost caused an accident. While driving down the highway it turned the radio on full blast, started calling random people, playing games. It wouldn't respond to driver input. Nearly caused an accident as I was so startled by the loud noise, then scrambling to try to turn it off. Now all hands-free functions have to disabled because I have to keep uconnect unit and bluetooth turned off. I've researched online and find likely caused by screen delamination, and that it's happening to many people - sor 997163.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

Infotainment screen started delaminating for no apparant reason causing "touches" to places on the screen. These "touches" change the radio, make unwanted phone calls, turn on heated seats, mess with the clock, etc. And most importantly cause hands free phone options to not work making it unsafe or the driver. Forums from Dodge and Jeep prove to show that this is a major recurring issue on 2018 Jeep/ram vehicles.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

About a week ago my screen started pushing/clicking/changing screens by itself. The screen is going crazy, switching calls, randomly calling people, scrolling through contacts, pushing buttons all over the place, changing songs, turning seat warmers off and on. I took this to my dealership and they confirmed it was a defect in the radio and to replace it would cost me over $1,000. After more research it turns out there are many other people with this same problem for the 2018 model Jeeps. This is a serious safety concern as you're trying to drive down the road and can't pay attention because all sorts of buttons are randomly being pushed and the screen is going crazy back and forth to other screens. I would hope that Jeep would correct this issue at their expense as it is a defect on their end and causing serious safety concerns to not just me but other drivers with the same issue.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

The screen in my Jeep is delaminating. This is a widely known issue with more than 200 complaints online and a class act just beginning. I have called a spoken with Jeep multiple times trying to get mine replaced but they refuse. They say that because I did not buy warranty on the screen and also because I am not the first owner that they are not going to cover the cost of replacing it. This is a very big safety hazard as multiple people have reported there screens calling 911, turning the radio volume up to full blast, and not allowing the driver to control the ac/heat.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/19/2022

The uconnect system is malfunctioning. This seems to be a manufacturing defect, which is known to be quite common in Chrysler vehicles. The problem causes their navigation system to be inoperable, the system to dial 911 voluntarily, the back up camera to be inoperable at times, the climate control to be inoperable as well as various other issues which have become a safety hazard while operating the vehicle. The problem has been reported to the dealer as well as well as confirmed by the dealer.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2022

The uconnect has delimanted and is causing the display to jump around. Driving on the expressway the back-up camera kept coming on, the heat and warming features jump around, the uconnect makes calls, it has tried calling the sos number. This is a known issue and Jeep should be working with their customers to fix.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2022

Radio is randomly accessing stations, backup camera came on while driving, seat heaters engaging on their own. Last night was the last straw when it dialled 911 automatically. . .

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

The uconnect radio screen is delaminating making the screen go crazy. Turning things on and off. Verry unsafe while driving.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2022

U-connect screen is delaminating causing visibility issues and occasionally will change settings on the screen causing distractions. No report filed nor inspections done at this time.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2022

When driving the screen keeps going to clock settings, when using navigaition, radio, or anything. Apparently the screen lamination is separating and causing the screen to freak out. No amount of tapping or restarting helps.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2022

Uconnect infotainment screen is delaminating. The layers of the screen are coming apart internally and forming what looks like a large bubble. This is causing buttons to get pressed by themselves, with no human interaction. The faulty screen is extremely distracting while trying to drive, especially at night, and causes a great safety hazard. The screen controls many things in the vehicle including radio, navigation, hvac, phone calls, etc.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2022

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - main infotainment screen. Yes, it’s available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - the screen is delaminating at the top left corner and moving across the screen. Eventually it will prevent me from using the touch technology on the screen appropriately, not allow me to visibly see the backup camera, and activate features I didn’t select. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - I told the dealer when I was there and they said my only option was to replace the whole unit out of pocket. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - no. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - no.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2022

The uconnect radio system is no longer functioning properly and causing a safety hazard. The system controls the climate, music functions, navigation, and back up camera. The system problems began with randomly turning the system on and off. The screen then began having a "bubble" in it. Now it randomly changes the radio stations or inputs, turns the climate system on and off, repeatedly asks to adjust the clock, prevents the use of the back up camera, and beeps loudly each time. Once the system begins malfunctioning it keeps doing it over and over again rapidly and the driver is not always able to turn the system off. The constant beeping and flashing is a serious distraction to the vehicle operator. If the system will not shut off the operator has no way to stop the distraction. Contact was made with Jeep who informed us to contact uconnect. Uconnect recommended we reload the software update which did not correct the problem. Our mechanic recommended disconnecting the battery overnight to reset the system. This worked for 24 hours and the problem began again. After researching this issue it appears to be in multiple other chyrsler vehicles. The level of distractions caused by this system could easily cause the driver to be distracted enough to cause a serious accident. This has been an ongoing problem for months and it continues to get worse. It most recently happened today.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2022

The vehicle's lcd screen has become delaminated which causes the control of the radio, air conditioning, navigation, and other features controlled by the "radio" portion of the car to become dysfunctional. The car will randomly beep, change air temperatures, start navigation, cause the loss of hands-free communication. This is a safety hazard as it causes the driver to be distracted in order to attend to the incessant beeping and issues related to ac/heat, navigation or radio (volume, etc. ). This appears from Dodge/Chrysler forums to be an issue among a large group of Dodge/Chrysler year model 2018 owners.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2022

I bought my car used last year with a small bubble on the uconnect screen. Jeep is aware of the problem and called it delamination. I am not worried about the aesthetics, but it is not safe. I am assuming that the pressure built up between the screens causes the "buttons" to act like they are being pressed and the screen is turning features on and off on the car. It changes radio stations, turns the seat warmers on which I can not turn off and it gets to hot, and my main worry is it is going to hit the emergency services button when there is not an emergency. There is no way to disable the screen. It is not safe and very distracting while operating the vehicle. I called Chrysler/Jeep and they are aware of the problem but will not call in a "good will warranty" because I bought the vehicle used. I researched the internet and this affecting many consumers in many makes and model years. The repair is costly. I am writing hoping that a recall is issued because driving while you car is turning functions on and off is distracting and dangerous. I appreciate any help you may offer.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2021

Instrument panel/ main display screen is delaminating. Causing inability to use navigation, seat heaters, uconnect, apps or set any presets, media, radio or any other item from main display. Safety features from main menu are inaccessible, navigation is impeded at any moment and use of screen is unpredictable.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2021

My 2018 Jeep gc has the delaminating screen it has 88,000 miles & I was told since I am not the first owner it’s not going to be fixed. Hard to believe I paid $30,000 for a vehicle with everything to be reduced to having nothing. The screen gets very hot & sticky stuff melts onto the console!! once a screen comes up about clock settings then nothing can be accessed. The preset radio stations randomly & constantly change, the temperature goes from hot to cold, it switches from xm to regular radio, it saves favorite songs & artists, seat warmer comes on & you cannot turn it off or down, when starting the vehicle it randomly makes phone calls from the recent list or calls the first person in my contacts list. (she is used to it, I now have to text her if I really want to call her) it beeps constantly, when trying to use hands free phone calls it switches itself to the phone and back to the car over & over & constantly hangs up the screen randomly changes to the rear camera so your whole screen is you looking behind your vehicle it constantly switches where the air is blowing from the floor to the face to the windshield back to the floor then the face then the windshield and I have asked for help from service & the dealer but nothing they didn’t even return my call. I have written letters & called every number including Chrysler cares (case# 81357273) but no one will help. When I ask why because I am the second owner they won’t fix it & they say it’s company policy. So if I was the first owner they would fix it under Chrysler good will. It’s been a year. Very disappointed in Chrysler & Jeep. After I purchased mine a CO-worker purchased one & my son but I will never recommend Jeep again. How is a defect the first, second, or third or twentieth persons fault? the company policy excuse is just their way of not having to fix it. I wish I would have sold it back to them when they offered after covid started. I asked my family to sue if I get hurt I have documented it all!!!.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2021

I purchased the vehicle Aug 2021- I noticed the delaminating on the app screen- I was told they would fix it- dropped off a week later, they called and said they would not fix- it was cosmetic… also said it would not affect the function of the radio or apps. . 3 months later- radio would shut down as it please, blue screen of death. . Now we are at the point my seat warmers come on when they want. Navigation doesn’t have a clue. . And it randomly calls people- I turn it off- it turns itself back on— my biggest concern is the timing started 3 months after purchase and the seat warmers this is dangerous- not to mention I was lied to! I am surprised there was not a recall- there are negative things about this all over the internet. . Obviously this is a known problem with this the 2018 screen. They keep attempting to put it through my extended warranty- they say no also. .

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2021

The touchscreen that controls heating/air/radio/backup camera/etc. . . Is going haywire during driving the vehicle. This causes major distraction as it is flipping to one control to the next, changing the climate controls switching the navigation system and radio stations all while driving. There is no way to turn off the touchscreen or keep it frozen so it continues to do this while the car is in use. There are no warnings and the operator is powerless to make it stop.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2021

8. 4 radio screen is delaminating, the delaminating and causing safety issues while driving. If cold out the heated seats stay on even after warming up, cannot turn off due to screen ghosting/flickering. I purchased to Jeep brand new from military auto sells in south korea. Tried to get it repaired here in korea under my warrantee, was told it did not fall under my warrantee. Fyi, my actual address is as below (not California), no option for military living living overseas. Maurice holt psc 333 box 2077 apo, ap 96251.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2021

My screen in the truck is constantly touching other functions on the screen. It’s a safety hazard because I can only use the navigation for 2 mins and then I have to try and fight with the screen so that it can stay on navigation. It reroutes me. Turns on the heated seats, mess with the settings and etc. It’s the stock radio not aftermarket. I seen multiple complaints regarding this matter.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2021

Uconnect system screen is manually making phone calls, switching on and off rear camera, changing settings, constantly switching back and forth as if someone was making changes. Unable to use the uconnect system at all now, this has been getting worse since starting and now I have to turn off the entire system to drive.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2021

Radio, is malfunctioning. Screen blinking all the time. Can not get to the control module, therefore can not get to controls, for heat, defrost ( which is safety issue) can't set back up camera. Very distracting while driving. Some of the features come on themself and you can not get them turned off. It is constantly taking your eyes off the road to focus on the screen to try to correct the issues.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2021

Our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee which has less than 16,000 miles has developed an unusual problem. The uconnect screen console with radio will no longer stay on any station, instead it jumps from station & goes from xm, fm, to am, all on it's own. Others have reported rear canera locks up, stalling has occured, bluetooth phone connection begins making calls fron the contacts list and seat warmer & cooler go on & off. Jeep is aware of these problems & more. Jeep & our dealership says they are aware of these problems. They say it is caused by delamination, that is the glue used to mount the screen & cosole is melting and dripping down on connections on the moterboard causing much erratic behaviour. This collection of problems is certainly a safety issue. However, at this time Jeep has not set a recall. It looks as though Jeep has decided to just stick it to their loyal customers and let them pay up to $ 2,000 for replacing the console. Jeep offers a two year warranty but I am unable to find out if these problems have been addressed or are we getting another screen & console with the same problems. I am trying to find a way to contact Jeep directly but having no luck so far.
