Working border collies for sale near me

It has only been within the past 35 years or so that this wonderfully loyal and intelligent breed has fully come into its own as a show dog in the UK and beyond, but has now become recognized as a champion in a wide array of areas such as agility, tracking and flying disc competitions.  Some say it’s more than just its shiny coat. It is the look of almost human intelligence they see shining in his eye at every glance.

Temperament of the Border Collie

One of the main reasons we offer a trained Border Collie for sale here at WKD is because this particular breed has the perfect blend of intelligence, loyalty and companionship. Having said that, it must be remembered that high levels of intelligence, if not correctly managed can lead to problematic behaviour trained Border Collie. At WKD we only select Border Collies with the perfect levels of each individual trait to ensure that they remain as great for the next ten years as they were on the day of your handover.

These dogs are wonderful with children and do well with people of all ages. Not known to be an aggressive breed, it is rare to come across a Border Collie for sale that will not do well at work or at play. Speaking of at work, Border Collies also do quite well as police sniffer and tracker dogs. Again, this is because of their extremely high level of intelligence. A Border Collie for sale as a WKD trained pet will usually enjoy playing but not be obsessed, this means you get to enjoy playing with your Border Collie on your terms rather than the commonly seen obsessive Collies that many owners struggle with.

Border Collie – Exercise Needed

Bear in mind that a Border Collie is a pastoral, or working, dog that requires more than the average amount of exercise. Although he does well in either town or country, generally you will need to have a way to give this lovable ball of energy at least 2 hours of romping exercise a day. A WKD trained Border Collie however will, like any other Dog we select to work with will require an hour a day but be physically capable of much more at the weekends. They will live to a ripe age of at least 12+ years in most cases.

Breed Specific Summary on the Border Collie

In order to qualify for most competitions, a Border Collie must have work qualifications and in many cases must also qualify in more than one area of the competition. Even so, when looking for a trained Border Collie for sale from WKD you will know that the dog you get will be so much more than a champion. Your dog will be your best friend and best worker and will give you many hours of loyal companionship. Please visit our dogs for sale page or call us to discuss your requirements.

(pronounced C Bar C) is a working ranch located in Courtland, Alabama.  We are very blessed with peace, nature, and a large family.  The focus of the ranch is raising food for the family while NOT going financially broke.  Much easier said than done, but with lots of hard work it can be accomplished.  We have dabbled in many adventures but currently run a small herd of feeder calves.  We raise and train registered AQHA (quarter) horses, and try to keep one, really good, broke horse for sale.  We are focusing on cutting pedigrees but love that all around horse who can do whatever is needed. A Good Mind Is A Must! Then, there are the border collies. We focus on registered, health-tested dogs that help with the livestock and provide the farm dog companionship.  We have a couple litters a year and enjoy every minute of it.  My husband and I work full time for our local power company and manage the ranch.  So, as you can imagine, we stay very busy.  If you are interested in any of the above things, feel free to roam the website or contact us!

Have a great day!

This is a question we have often been asked. In fact, it has been a question we have asked ourselves. There are lots of different breeds designed to work cattle and lots of the cattle ranchers around us have chosen one of these other breeds. But we keep coming back to Border Collies for several reasons. Here are a few of them.

Train-ability: Border Collies are SMART! They are so smart sometimes it is startling! Coupled with their intelligence, is their deep desire to PLEASE. They also have incredible natural herding ability. Having these three elements combined make training them to herd relatively easy.

Drive: Border Collies LOVE to herd! There is nothing they would rather do, which makes utilizing their assistance enjoyable. And truly, a good dog with good training does save us SO much time and effort!

Grit: "Grit?" you ask. Yes! And if you don't believe me you haven't seen a good cattle-bred Border Collie at work. They are a force to be reckoned with that can turn even the wildest cow around. While many Border Collies are bred to work sheep and are gentle and maybe even timid, don't think they are all that way! Just be selective in choosing the right style for your needs.

Agility: Border Collies are extremely fast enabling them to get around the herd of cattle and turn them the direction you need in a matter of seconds! Their lightning speed and quick turns make them excellent help with moving cattle.

Friendly: Border Collies love people! They often are loyal to their master and want to be with him wherever he goes. Many of them like to play games and meet new people, especially people who will love on them and play with them! Some are very good with small children becoming a kid's first best friend.

Border Collies are good at reading the situation and knowing what to do as well as listening for their master's command. They are a loyal partner. These are a few of the reasons I will always pick a Border Collie!
