Yes, there is a crankshaft sensor and a camshaft sensor. They are the same part. As stated above the cranshaft sensor is simple to swap. The camshaft sensor is fairly easy as well, but hard to get your hands in there. Pete

Where is the best place to buy both of these?I would like to have them in the truck JIC....Parts houses?Ebay? I bought mine from Wyckoff Auto Parts:
http://www.partswebsite.com/wyckoffmopar/index.php?type=parts&start=1&home=1 I like them for just about all of my OEM replacement parts as their prices are good and they ship cheap and quick. They also verify the parts fitment if you supply your VIN in the order. I bought a replacement crank sensor when I started getting the error code almost daily, but when I pulled my sensor to replace it I found it was covered in grease and oil, so I just cleaned it up and put it back in. But, it is nice to know I have the replacement on hand if I should need it in a pinch. Joined Dec 4, 2011 · 51 Posts

I replaced my crankshaft position sensor about 10 months ago and now it is throwing the code again, yesterday I pulled it and this time it is covered in oil. (FYI)The one I replaced before was dry. Does anyone know where the oil would be coming from? I cleaned it and put it back in, but the check engine light is still on. 2000 2500 4wd Automatic Joined Nov 27, 2013 · 21 Posts
Just bought my 2500 from the original owner (one of my best friends) cheap because the tranny is hurt the brake lines were rusted out as in would not hold fluid and it is rusty...put in all new brake lines and everything brake related and it died after driving it for 8 miles and won't start scanning it today hoping it is not the pump...already dumped over a
grand in parts-all the brakes, batteries, fuel sending unit etc and want to drive this thing! |
