Sun conference track and field 2022

MIRAMAR, Fla.—Southeastern won its third Sun Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in as many tries over the weekend, scoring 308.5 points.

  The Fire were more than 200 points past runner-up St. Thomas which scored 89.

  Southeastern swept the podium in the 100 Hurdles with Victoria Morris winning in 14.89, Irmiris Mendez second in 15.23 and Amaya Kier third in 15.36. Mendez added a third-place finish in the 400 Hurdles in 1:12.98 and Namiam Simpson was the winner in 1:10.45.

  The 4x100 Relay team of Ke'aira Henderson, Jaqual Bush, Oluwafikayomi Lawrence, and Simpson won by a second clocking a time of 46.69. The Fire also won the 4x400 Relay by four seconds with Simpson, Lawrence, Bush, and Courtney Gales posting a time of 3:52.23.

  Bush added a win in the 100 Meter Dash in 11.88 and Henderson was third in 12.09. Bush was also the 200 Meter champion in 23.68 to break her own conference meet record from last year.

  Julia Rohm won the 5,000 meters in 18:20 and was second in the 1500 Meters in a time of 4:51.6.

  Isabel Oliveto and Emma McLaughlin went 1-2 in the 3000 Steeplechase with Oliveto posting a time of 11:47 and McLaughlin 12:45.

  Gales added a third-place finish in the 400 in 57.08 and Jillian Blaser was third in the 800 Meters in 2:23.02.

  In the field events, Miyah Ford was the Triple Jump champion with a mark of 11.36 meters. Morris was the runner-up in the High Jump at 1.57 meters. Charle' Alexander was the runner-up in the Hammer with a mark of 36.02 meters. Alexander was named Freshman of the Year, Most Valuable Performer, and was the High Point Scorer.

  Michelle Tierney was second in the Heptathlon with 3590 points

  All athletes and relays finishing in the top three earned All-Sun Conference recognition.
