At the end of the first day of action on Saturday, Massachusetts women’s team and Rhode Island’s men’s team lead the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track Championships. In the early race for the women’s team title, the Minutewomen, who won one event and collected seven medals at the end of the first day, have scored 56.5 points. They are followed in second-place by Rhode Island which tallied 38.5 points, while third-place is George Mason with 38 points. Rounding out the top scoring teams are VCU in fourth on 28 points, followed by Fordham with 21pts in fifth, George Washington on 18 in sixth and Dayton sitting seventh on 17.5pts. On the men’s side, Rhode Island is out front after collecting five medals and winning two events to score 59.5 points on Day 1. Second-place George Mason has 48 points and is followed by UMass in third after with 29 points. Richmond, Va.— The Richmond track & field program will look to build off its success at the indoor championships this weekend when it takes to the outdoor oval for the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by VCU at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond Saturday and Sunday. Information regarding the meet including entries, live results and a schedule of events can be found here. Brooke Fazio enters the 800m field as the reigning champion and conference record holder. Fazio has not lost in A-10 individual or relay competition since 2019. Alongside Fazio, one of UR's deepest event group includes Lindsay Colflesh, Kendra Smither and indoor 800m silver medalist Kate McAndrew. Rachel Helbling is set to defend both her indoor and outdoor 400m dash title while she's joined by Maddie Orr, Virginia Beringer and Aylin Bruce. Madison Trippett will look to better her 1,500m performance from last year's outdoor championships when she toes the line with Anna George, Isabel Blaylock and Elizabeth Stockman. Stockman will also run the 5,000 where she earned bronze at the indoor meet and fourth at outdoors a year ago. She is joined by Trippett, Lily Snow and Laurel Kurtz, while Manon Stephen and Taylor Coleman will run the 10,000m. Kamryn Ross will run the 100m hurdles after last year's runner-up finish. Gabrielle Beneducci is set for the 400m hurdles race. In the sprints, Tamar Accius will represent the Spiders in the 100m and 200m dashes while Kayla Woods joins Accius in the 100m dash. Woods will also take off in the long jump, while Morgan Crocker is set for both the long jump and triple jump. Richmond will also field 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams.
