Hey lovely ladies, Show YES!!! Another liquid lipstick time!!! You know I forewarned you sometime back – I have like 7,387,982,356 more liquid lipsticks to review! So, bear with me! Go, get your cup of coffee that will help you get through this write up! Today’s review is on a Stila offering – from their Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick! Product Description: If you have checked my review on
Lime Crime Velvetines in Rustic, you would have read my mini rant on the pricing of the lipsticks vis-a-vis the quantity of product. Some comparative pricing information is listed below: Ingredients: My Experience with Stila Stay All Day Amore Liquid Lipstick:Packaging: Stila All Day liquid lipsticks come packaged just like any other liquid lipstick – a transparent tube with a doe-foot applicator. The tube comes packaged in a brown cardboard box with a window – helps identify the shade easily, even within the box. The packaging is quite minimalistic – a far cry for the Kylie and Huda lipsticks. The only major point of difference between the Stila packaging and the rest of the world seems to be their doe-foot applicator. The applicator wand itself is okay but the sponge tip is softer and more bendy. While the idea behind it may have been ease of application around the curves of the mouth; in my experience, it has quite the opposite effect. With the applicator having give, it actually makes lining the lips more difficult because you are not able to go precise. It requires more attention and precision to ensure that the tip does not bend under the slightest pressure of your hand and go outside the lip line. Not a good idea – when you are working with pigmented shades – or trying to outline your think lips. Color: The shade is what caught me – it’s the perfect shade for fall!! It’s a gorgeous plum shade which is striking and kind of vampy. This obviously will not be for everyone, such shades rarely are! And also because the shade does not have enough pink in it. If I was to compare the shade to Kylie Spice – another lovely fall shade, I feel Kylie Spice is more wearable because of the pink in the purple whereas in this case, the plummy-ness lacks the wearability of pink. So, it comes out fairly gothic. Honestly, it isn’t a brightening shade. You can’t really wear it on its own. It doesn’t look too flattering, but paired with the correct eye look – like the dark smokey look I have done in #OOTDs – it works very well and actually elevates the look. Texture: This one is an absolute aberration from the Stila formula – in a good way. Firstly, the texture is kind of liquid instead of the thick creaminess of “Teroso.” It still glides on easily onto the lips and settles into a matte finish. However, unlike other Stila Liquid lipsticks, this one isn’t as drying. It’s fairly oaky on the lips. Surprise! Surprise! This shade actually seems closer to the KVD formula than the Stila one – minus the intense pigmentation of KVD, which I will discuss in a minute. Honestly, if I hadn’t picked Tesoro at the same time as Amore, I would have thought that Stila reformulated their formula, apart from the change in packaging. I guess not! It’s just that the pigment in this performs differently. Also, the formula is pretty transfer proof – till you subject it to oil. Pigmentation: The pigmentation of this one is good but it lacks opaqueness – you can see a bit of translucency peep through. Yes, layering of the product or using a lip liner can counter that. And layering does not cause the product to start flaking so that aspect is also covered. Overall, you can get a more translucent look or go for full intense gothic-ness – the formula allows for either option. If you look at my lip swatch, you will see the translucency clearly visible at the lip line where I have “attempted” to over draw my lips! Lasting Power: Here again, the formula works well. The product pretty much stays put through light snacks and beverages. You can easily get 8 hours plus wear with it, but once you eat a heavier meal, the formula will break down – start transferring and start getting patchy. The patchiness in a shade like this looks absolutely horrendous because this shade is dark and everything becomes more obvious. So, I would advise to refrain from heavy food with this one. Fragrance: There is a distinct sweet fragrance…a tad bit nauseating. The good thing is that it’s not too loud and dissipates fairly quickly. It could definitely be an issue for someone who has a sensitive nose. To sum this up for you: Pros of Stila Stay All Day Amore Liquid Lipstick:
Cons of Stila Stay All Day Amore Liquid Lipstick:
IMBB Rating: I was surprised but the performance of this one considering my previous experience with Stila All Day liquid lipsticks and also considering Tesoro, which I bought recently. Will I be going out and buying more, I don’t think so. At this point, I don’t think I NEED more liquid lipsticks.
And it is this urge, I am more likely to stick to KVD’s formula. Stila Tesoro Stay All Day
