Q - What is a contactless ticket?

A contactless ticket is a digital pass that can be stored within the Wallet app on your iPhone and Apple Watch and be used to enter Ascot Racecourse by holding your device to the turnstile reader at the gate. 

Q - How do I choose to receive a contactless ticket?

During the checkout process you will be offered the option to receive a contactless ticket. Please note that this may not be available for all enclosures.

Once you have completed the checkout process you will then receive an email confirming your booking and a separate email which includes a link to add the contactless ticket to the Apple Wallet. Please note that if multiple tickets have been purchased you will receive one set of emails per ticket.

Q - How do I add my contactless ticket to Apple Wallet?

You will receive your contactless ticket(s) via email, once this has been received:

1. Open the email on your iPhone

3. Complete the process to add the pass to Wallet

Q – How can I view all my contactless tickets?

All contactless tickets that you have added to your wallet can be viewed by opening the Apple Wallet on your iPhone or Apple Watch.

Q – Can I forward a contactless ticket?

For each contactless ticket purchased you will receive a single email that contains a link to download that ticket. Forwarding on the email will allow the recipients to download that ticket to their Apple Wallet.

Q – Can I have multiple tickets on a single phone?

Yes, multiple contactless tickets can be downloaded to a single phone, once selected you can swipe left and right to view all tickets.

Q – How do I enter Ascot Racecourse with my ticket?

You will receive a notification as you approach Ascot Racecourse indicating the contactless ticket(s) you have available.

When you approach the turnstiles, tap the notification to select your ticket, look for the contactless logo on the scanner and tap your iPhone or Apple.

If you have multiple contactless tickets, you can swipe left or right to access them one at a time and present to the ticket scanner for access.

To access your contactless tickets without a notification select the Apple Wallet app.

Q – What Apple Wallet Pass Settings should I have set?

To ensure the best customer experience we recommend that the following settings are enabled on the pass

1. Automatic Updates 
2. Allow Notifications
3. Suggest on Lock Screen 
4. Automatic Selection

These can be managed from the pass by tapping … to see settings and more information.

Q – I have not received a notification on my iPhone lock screen

The lock screen notification is based on your proximity to the venue and if Location Services is disabled will not be displayed. To enable location services:

1. Within Settings select Privacy and then Location Service
     2. Enable Location Services if disabled
     3. Scroll down and ensure that the Wallet app has “While Using the App” option selected

Q – I have been asked to enter my passcode when presenting my iPhone to the reader?

Within Settings and Face ID & Passcode check that Apple Pay is enabled.

On iOS 11 or older authentication is required when presenting your ticket. 

Q - Can I delete my contactless ticket?

To remove a contactless ticket:

1. Scroll down in Wallet, then tap Edit Passes

2. Tap the arrow button

3. Tap Delete

Or tap the ticket that you want to remove, tap the three dotted icon, scroll down and tap Remove Pass

Q – What happens if I cancel my tickets

When tickets are cancelled, your contactless ticket will be updated in Apple Wallet and greyed out and you will no longer be able to tap for entry.

Please note that in some cases Ascot may be required to cancel all tickets generated as part of an order, in these cases a new contactless ticket will be generated for any tickets that have not been cancelled.

Q – Can I still use my paper ticket

Yes, if you have arranged to receive a physical ticket this can be used for entry, however once this ticket has been scanned the digital ticket will no longer allow entry

Most airlines, and pretty much all legacy carriers (for example United, Delta, and American) have iPhone apps that allow you to check in and digitally retrieve your boarding pass on your phone. 

You can also just check in on the airline's website and choose to have them email you your boarding pass. After that, you can add it to your iPhone's Wallet. 

Then you'll have it just one touch away, all through the security and boarding process. But first you need to know how to add it.

How to add a boarding pass to your iPhone Wallet

Through an airline app

1. Download or update the app for your specific airline and open it.

2. If you've checked in, your itinerary should show up when you open your trip. If you haven't checked in, sign into your reservation using your flight confirmation number and name.

3. Check in to your flight. Once checked in, it should take you to your boarding pass.

4. When you have your boarding pass, you should see a button to "Add to Apple Wallet." Tap on it.

5. It will ask you to confirm the addition. Tap on "Add."

6. It will now be in your Apple Wallet. You can access it through the app, or on your homescreen when it's time for your flight.

From an email

1. Check into your flight either using the airline's website or using an app.

2. If you check in online, make sure you click on the box asking the airline to email you your boarding pass.

3. If the airline sends it directly to your Apple email address, your iPhone should add it automatically to your Wallet.

4. If not, or if you send it to a different email address, open the attachment at the bottom of the checked-in email while viewing the email on your iPhone.

5. Tap "Add to Apple Wallet" from the attachment.

6. It'll ask you to confirm that you want to add it. Tap on "Add."

When you open your Apple Wallet, you'll have a list of all of your boarding passes. Make sure that the appropriate one is selected (your Wallet will keep past boarding passes unless you delete them).
