How to make hot chocolate with nesquik powder and water

I've wanted to have a go-to mix for chocolate milk and hot cocoa. So, I looked around and found the same recipe over and over...so I tried it. It's great! You can adjust it to be just as heavy and dark chocolate as you like, or go with the lighter milk chocolate taste. The mix works well for both. The only downer is that chocolate costs so much these days; but who didn't already know that? This is a great recipe, and you can't get any simpler!

Ingredients For homemade chocolate milk mix (nesquick)

  • 1/3 c

high quality cocoa powder (i use hershey's, but there are better ones avail. on the internet..if you can afford it!) try:http://www.amazon.com/scharffen-berger-scharffenberger-natural-powder/dp/b000ospgj8?ie=utf8&tag=suga04-20&link_code=btl&camp=213

You will likely want to experiment just a little to see what mix ratio you want to achieve the density of chocolate taste you want. If you need a suggestion as a starting place try: by mixing up some chocolate milk; For one 8 oz glass, start with 2 teaspoons of chocolate mix, pour in about 3/4 teaspoon of HOT water, and stir briskly until all is smooth. Add cold milk and DRINK!

To mix up hot cocoa, you will need 2-3 teaspoons of cocoa mix per 8 oz of milk (again depending upon your preferences). Add in a SMALL amount of HOT water and stir, until all is dissolved. Add milk. Add desired extract/s. Heat to desired temperature for serving. SERVE!

  • Last Step: Don't forget to share! Make all your friends drool by posting a picture of your finished recipe on your favorite social network. And don't forget to tag Just A Pinch and include #justapinchrecipes so we can see it too!

Third option would be to add a pinch of salt. It can help balance the flavors (a pinch isn't enough to make it not-sweet), and it's commonly described that less salt can make something taste "watery", and adding a touch of salt makes things taste more balanced.

Can you put hot chocolate powder in water?

As a guideline, ½ cup of cocoa mix and ½ cup hot water is the right amount for me to enjoy in one serving. I like to put the hot cocoa mix in the cup and add the hot liquid on top, and stir, in order to not get any lumps. Enjoy!
