Hamilton beach xl convection oven with rotisserie review

Hamilton Beach' monstrous mini oven makes other toaster ovens cower in fear. The specs don't lie: You really can cook two frozen pizzas or eight baked potatoes at once, courtesy of two levels of 144-square-inch cooking grids. We even cooked a whole chicken on the spinning rotisserie: It isn't perfect, but it did the job, crisping up the bird nicely. There are other aspects to the Hamilton's aren't perfect either: The analog controls are hard to read and not very accurate, and you'll pay for the size in the form of slow heating (it took 22 minutes to hit 350 degrees and topped out at 360, though it claims 450 degrees as the top temp). —Christopher Null

WIRED__ Easily the best unit if you don't have a standard oven. Easy cleanup thanks to front-loading crumb tray. Handles big cooking jobs without complaint. Quite the bargain.

TIRED Not the best at toasting plain bread, which requires extensive experimentation to keep from simply drying instead of browning toast. Enormous footprint. Baking pans have embossed pattern, making them difficult to use for cookies and the like.

Hamilton beach xl convection oven with rotisserie review

How We Tested: We evaluated 14 countertop convection ovens, assessing their ability to make toast, roast a chicken, bake yellow cake from a mix, broil steaks, and heat pizza on a pizza setting, if featured. We also evaluated each product's ease of use, including a review of owner's manuals, operating control panels, programming the ovens, opening the door, ease of cleaning, and the surface temperature reached during broiling. For an oven with steam capability, we evaluated the ability to steam broccoli, salmon, chicken, and potatoes. For an oven with pressure capability, we also tested the ability to roast a turkey, chicken, and beef under pressure.
