Go to your Shared with me section, highlight the shared files or folders you want to add, and press Shift+Z on your keyboard. You'll see the old move menu and can choose where to put those folders. On your PC, they'll sync and behave like they used to, no shortcut mess. I think that is a problem on the Google side, so as the message suggests, wait an try again later. In the mean time you could submit your feedback directly to Google. On Google Drive on the web click the ? button then Send feedback, fill out the form and submit it. Rubén♦Rubén 42.6k18 gold badges86 silver badges276 bronze badges You can use add "shortcut to my drive". It does the same thing. But if you are a "Backup and Sync" user and want those folders to appear and even be reachable in your PC when you go offline you can go ahead and uninstall your "Backup and Sync" client and use the "Drive for Desktop" client instead. I don't know why Google tries to hide it into the deep partition of its website but it is a way too underrated tool that can do literally everything "Backup and Sync" can do and way much more.

How do I add a shared folder to Google Drive without shortcut?Step 1: Log in to your Google Drive account and enter the "Shared with me" interface. Step 2: Select the file or folder that needs to be copied, and then click the right mouse button. Step 3: Select "Add shortcut to Drive" option in the pop-up window, and then select "My Drive".
Why can't I add a shared Google Drive folder to my drive?Confirm that the file owner is in your organization. You can't add files owned by people in other organizations. To add a file owned by another organization, someone from that organization with Manager access must move the file into the shared drive.
Why add shortcut to drive instead of add to drive?Start using Google Drive shortcuts to stay organized. A shortcut is simply a link that references a file or folder, so you don't need to make copies of the same file. You can add shortcuts to your Drive or Shared Drives and they are visible to everyone who has access to the location where you've added the shortcut.
Why doesn't my Google Drive have shared drive option?Important: Shared Drives are only available with the G Suite Enterprise, Business, or Education editions. If you don't see Shared Drives in Google Drive, it might not be available for your organization. For details, contact your G Suite administrator.
