Dog Group: Sporting Show
History: The English Cream Golden Retriever isn't a different breed than the Golden Retriever, but simply a color variation. That said, the breed originated in Scotland during the 19th century. At the time, Goldens were used mainly for sporting and hunting. As time went on, the Golden Retriever's popularity spread to the United States, Canada, Europe, and other places across the globe. The English Cream Golden Retriever came to the United States much later, when breeders began importing the lighter colored dogs in order to improve their own lines of Golden Retrievers. Today, the color of Golden Retrievers can range from light cream to dark gold. Temperament: English Cream Golden Retrievers, like all Golden Retrievers, are full of personality. These happy dogs love attention, and they thrive on being around people. English Cream Golden Retrievers are extremely friendly and social, so they get along with just about everyone. That said, they do well with children and make great family dogs. English Cream Golden Retrievers are intelligent and highly trainable, and they are quick to catch onto new commands and tricks. Additionally, these active dogs need lots of exercise, so they do best with owners who are also active and spend time outdoors. If they don't get enough exercise, these dogs can become bored and restless.
