Bypass screen lock moto g7 without losing data

There are many variants of the Motorola G7 in the USA. The different G7 versions are Moto G7, G7 Play, Plus, Supra, Optimo Maxx.

All the Moto G7 models are now updated to Android 10. In this post, we are going to learn how to bypass the G7 lock screen when locked out due to a forgotten PIN, Pattern, Password on Android 10 as follows –

You can see I’m stuck on the Moto G7 lock screen. I don’t remember the correct password.

To get past this screen, we need to hard reset the phone via recovery mode. Unfortunately, you’ll lose the internal storage data during this process.

To put our Moto G7 into recovery mode, we need to power it off.

Long-press the power button and choose “Power off” as shown above.

Once the phone is off, press & hold the volume down & power buttons as shown above.

We are now in the Motorola G7 fast boot mode.

Use the volume rocker to switch from “START” to “RECOVERY MODE”.

When on RECOVERY MODE, press the power key once.

Now, there is a “No command” error on the screen.

To get past this screen, press the power button. Keep holding it & tap the volume up key once. Leave both the keys when you reach the “Android Recovery” screen.

We are going to use the recovery mode to factory reset our Moto G7.

Use the volume down button to move down from “Reboot now” to “Wipe data/factory reset”.

Now, click the power key once.

Again go down from “Cancel” to “Factory data reset” and click the power button to wipe your phone.

Once the data wipe is complete. Press the power button one more time to reboot the phone.

After a few minutes, you’ll reach the “Hi There” screen.

This is the first page of the setup wizard. Let’s tap the “START” button to begin the device setup.

In the next step, we are going to connect our device to a Wifi network.

Now, it’s checking for updates. Wait for a while.

The next screen is “Copy apps & data”. Let’s skip this step by tapping “Don’t copy”.

Now, it brings me to the screen lock password verification page. This time there is one more option – “Use my Google account instead”. Let’s pick this option to move ahead.

We are now on the Google verification screen. It’s asking to sign in with the previously synced Google account on this device.

Enter your Google account credentials and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup wizard.

How to bypass Google Verification – FRP lock on Motorola Moto G7 without computer XT-1962 XT-1955

To bypass the Google account we need to go back from the “Verify your account” screen to the first page using the back button.

We have reached the “Hi There” page.

Click the “Emergency call” button to open the phone dialer.

Now, tap “Emergency Information” two times.

We are now on the “Emergency Information” screen.

Tap the “Edit icon” as shown above.

On the following screen, click “Name” and then the “Profile icon”. You can refer to the above screenshots.

When the dropdown appears, choose the lower option – “Choose an image”.

This brings us to the “Recent” screen.

Hit the “3 bar icon” at the top.

Now, long-press the “Drive” option.

It’ll bring you to the “App Info” screen.

Select the 2nd option on this page – “Permissions”.

We are now on the “App Permissions” screen.

Hit the “Search icon” and enter the term Settings

Wait for the search results to appear and scroll down towards the bottom.

Choose the 2nd “Settings – App Info” option with a blue circular icon as shown above.

Now, we have reached the App Info screen of the Settings app.

Hit “Open” to launch Settings.

In Settings, scroll down and choose “Security”.

Open the last option on the Security page – “Screen Pinning”.

Turn on “Screen Pinning”.

Now, enable the other option – “Lock device when unpinning”.

This will bring you to the “Choose Screen Lock” page.

We are going to use this page to add a new PIN, Pattern, or Password.

I’ve chosen the “Fingerprint + PIN” option.

Set up as easy-to-remember PIN such as 1234

Enter the PIN 2 times and hit “Confirm”.

We have successfully replaced the old screen lock password with this new PIN 1234

Now, let’s go back and bypass the Google lock using this PIN code.

Use the back button to reach the first page.

Click “START” and then “Don’t copy” on the “Copy apps & data” screen.

This brings us to the “Verify PIN” screen. Verify with the PIN 1234

The PIN verification was successful. Use the “Skip” option on the Google sign-in page to move ahead.

If after clicking “Don’t Copy” it skips the “Verify PIN” screen and brings you directly to the “Verify your Account” page, then you need to hard reset the phone once again via the recovery mode. After the reset, you’ll get the PIN verification option.
