Q7 Brake Pads

I own a 2008 Q7 with only 23,000 miles and recently my brake pad indicator light went on. It was on for about a month before I took it to the dealer, but I don't put that many miles on the car in a month. Anyway, I had to replace all four brake pads as well as the front rotors....$1,450.00!!! I thought this was ridiculous considering how many miles I have on the car. The service agent stated that, because of the performance brakes on the car and its weight, it is not uncommon for the pads and rotors to go out around 15-20k. Can anyone verify this? Also, what are everyone's thoughts about sticking with the dealer for these types of repairs?

Q7 brakes

That is about consistant with my experience. Front and rear pads were replaced about 24K miles. Front goes faster than rear. The rotors have to be replaced and are never turned by Audi. These are Bembro brakes, with 6 cylinders per wheel. Lots of stopping power to bring that 5000 pound from 60 to 0 in 141 feet.

You may want to find a good tire and brake service that is experienced to save some money on the replacements. Don't go on the "cheap", after all stopping the Q7 is a good thing......

Q7 25000 Mile Service (Brake Pads, Rotors & Tires)

I gave my 2009 Q7 for 25000 miles service to the dealer. Got call from them stating that front brake pads, all rotors and brake sensors needs to be replaced ($800). They are also asking me to replace all the tires as well ($1200).

This sounds ridiculous and unbelieveable. Company like Audi would make a car that would need these stuff to be changed this early in its life is just crazy. Its not like I race with this car or do off roading. I have a merc E350 4matic sports edition and its been 4 years 45000 miles and haven't yet changed any of these stuff.

Can anyone share their experience and also provide advice on whether this is legit and should I get a second opinion.

Regards,
Chirag

Well, there's no question about what you're going to get when you buy genuine Audi parts and I'm beginning to sell Q7 brakes to more local indy shops everyday. Also, The Tire Rack offers "direct-fit" aftermarket alternatives like ATE, Hawk, Centric, & DBA...but I have no personal experience with these brands on Q7s.

That was exactly my auto mechanic told me when I brought my car in an auto shop for a brake system maintenance.

The 0-100 km / h acceleration of 5.5 seconds. The Audi Q7 V12 TDI Q7 is the best treatment due to a revised suspension, tires and brakes. Audi says the Q7 V12 TDI can manage an angle of more than 0.9 g on a skid pad 300 feet.

I've got the same car and am pretty shocked at some of the cost of ownership and poor engineering. I thought my Mercedes was expensive to maintain, but it isn't even close to this Audi! MB brakes have 50k miles and are fine, sparks good til 100k miles (55k on Audi), no road noise and it goes on and on.
