1 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 07/18/2019

As I was traveling 65 mph down hwy 411 in centre, al my car (2008 Dodge Avenger) completely shutoff. I could barely get my car over to the side of the road due to the steering wheel wouldn't turn. Thank god it was 11 p. M on a Thursday night because if it would've been during the day this hwy is very busy and I could've caused a wreck and harmed myself or someone else. After I got on the side of the road I tried to start it back up a few times and it finally started back up but it wouldn't stop turning over until I cut it back off. Then I tried to start it again and it started but every light on my dash come on. I put it in drive and tried to drive it home but it wouldnt go over 15 mph. I had several vehicles run up on the back of my vehicle and I was actually afraid for my safety. When I got it home I shut it off and it wouldnt start back up. I then tried to start it back up the next morning and the electrical throttle control light come on and I still cant go over 15 mph. This should be a safety recall because I couldve been hurt bad or worse.

2 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2012 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

Two separate incidents have happened. First was in November 2018. I was driving home on a city street when the vehicle flashed the throttle body sensor light along with the check engine light and the car lost power and would not accelerate past 25mph. Brought to Dodge dealership for diagnosis and they couldn't check the etc light due to it shutting off with restart of the vehicle but was told I needed a new alternator. Fixed the alternator and no problems again until January 2019. This time I was driving home from work on a very busy highway and the car flashed the check engine light and died while in motion. Power steering was very tight but I was able to get to the side of the road safely and put the car in park. After 4 tries of restarting the vehicle, it started back up but the check engine light is still on. I will be taking it back to the Dodge dealership in hopes of finding out what is wrong, but am nervous because of what I have read amongst other Avenger owners.

3 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 12/20/2018

In motion at random times my electronic throttle control light will flash at the same time I lose all power at any speed. . . . . From coming into my driveway to highway speed 40-50mph to interstate speeds 65mph I was with my very I'll mom who has to travel with medical supplies and equipment and when she is in an accident, and left unable to get to her set destination, would suffer and did finally today . . . . We had to sit parked for longer that she medically is able to because of this problem with the electronic throttle control. It should be recalled & resolved before someone in my car, or myself, gets hurt or killed. I have had my Avenger since February - March 2009 and today is December 2018 and it has happened for over 2 years to me just because I am still alive, don't mean it shouldn't be resolved. Again, this happened before I got to the mileage I am now and is still happening. My airbag light stays on and I don't know if it would even work. . . . . . , if I was to impact from the loss of power that's caused from, the etc. Please recall & fix this.

4 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2010 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 08/11/2018

For months now my car keeps stalling I have 62,000 miles. I will be at a stop light and car will stall. It will start back up and then stall again. I took it to the dealer and they could not replicate and said nothing appeared in the codes as there were no issues. I contacted Chrysler and they claim they didn't know what the issue was and that they rely on the dealers to diagnose. Today my car stalled again I was able to get home and I shut it off and started back up again while recording it on my phone when the engine stalled my electronic throttle warning light and check engine light both came on and the off. This is very dangerous and would like you to please document and let Chrysler know this is a safety issue. I've read many instances online of this happening and consumers replacing the etc just to have it act up again. The cost to repair is somewhere around 400-800 dollars. At 62k I feel that they put a vehicle on the market and now should have enough complaints from the consumer to investigate and issue a recall.

6 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 05/09/2018

I've had a few issues recently with my 2013 Dodge Avenger over the past year. When my change oil warning indicator comes on, some of my warning indicator lights randomly come on as well. The first few times my airbag indicator light would come on and stay on. When I took my car for the oil change I asked them check the airbags but there was nothing indicating a problem and once the oil was changed the light would go off and stay off. The next time it was the abs & the tire pressure monitoring system; I got the oil changed they checked, nothing was found again. Before this last time, my oil warning came on along with the emergency brake light, as if the brake was up and it stayed on even when I drove, again no problems were found. Last night (5/09/18) change oil warning indicator came on. This morning (5/10/18) I started my car (automatic car starter) went out to my car and my tire pressure monitoring system warning light and my electronic throttle control warning light were lit. I tried to turn the car off and back on, however the car wouldn't shut off right away. When I restarted my car the light indicators were gone. But while driving to work if I were to stop at a light or stop sign my car would idle and feel as though it was about to shut down so I had to put it in park while stopped. Also when I had to accelerate from the stop if I just drove like normal and took my foot of the brake and push the gas the rpm's would go to 7 then drop and my car would shake. I had to take my foot off the brake carefully then drift, and then press gently on the gas until I was able to pick up speed. This is my only vehicle in which I drive my children, please help!!.

8 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2014 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 03/21/2018

The first time the throttle control warning light came on, I was mid-turn into oncoming traffic when my vehicle stalled, completely stopping almost causing another vehicle to t-bone me. Car shut off and when I restarted it, it automatically accelerated. Arrived at my destination within a mile and later that day when I turned on my car to go home, the light was off and no issues. A couple days go by, on my way to work again, I am trying to stop for a red light, throttle control warning light comes on and car accelerates instead causing me to run the red light. Throttle control light stays on for the rest of the day but when I go to drive it the next day its off and no issues. Took car in to get oil changed and other unrelated work done and they don't find any issues. About 3 weeks go by, don't drive the car for 5 days, it drives fine the first day and then today (the second day) on my way to work, I went to slow down for a stop light, when I pushed on the gas to accelerate again, throttle control light comes on and I have the gas pedal to the floor but car won't go above 13 mph. Drove this way for about 3 miles, making no stops worried that I wouldn't be able to get it to go at all, until I was somewhere safe that I could park the vehicle. Just went to go turn it on after about 4 hours and light is still on.

10 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2013 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 11/15/2017

A few weeks ago I was turning and trying to accelerate when my electronic throttle control light went on. The car lost power but after I took my foot off the gas petal the light turned off and I got power back to the car. Took it to get the computer on but no codes came back. Tonight I was merging into the highway when etc the check engine and the abs lights came on. The car lost power and I couldn't go faster then 50mph. I got back to the house turned the car off then back on and no lights are on. I'm not sure what to do. If the lights aren't on the computer won't pick up any error codes. Also my car already has a recall on the airbags. Is this an electrical problem?.

Now I am having battery issues with the car as well. I have reported this once before and have had no offers to fix the problem. Now that my daughter is driving the car I am forced to report this again. I feel it is only right for Dodge to recall and fix this. Other Dodge owners have reported the same issue. It may have not caused an accident yet, but why wait until it does?????? I dont always have a safe spot to pull over to restart the car. It is very scary. It has happened several times in the last 6 months.

Was driving down the highway and noticed a delayed response when pushing down on the accelerator, moments later I was unable to accelerate and the car's electronic throttle control light appeared. The car was unable to go more then 15 mph. I had to have the car towed. 25 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2010 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

The electronic throttle light came on and the car would not go over 15 miles per hour. I pulled over, turned the car off and it restarted. The light eventually went off and kept coming back on with the car not being able to accelerate over 15 mph. I took it to the Dodge dealership today and they stated that the throttle body needs to be replaced. The cost of the part alone is $257. 00 which is on back order. There are over 1200 on back order at this time. They also checked to see if this part would be included in the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty which it is not. This is part of the powertrain and should be included in the warranty through Dodge. There should also be a recall on this part. Evidently there are more people with the same problem since there are 1200 on back order.

27 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

I was driving on the highway going 55mph and the electronic throttle indicator light came on and my car failed to increase speed and started to jerk slightly. The rmps then jumped from 1700 about to over 2500 then started pushing 3000 and wouldnt go down until I was off the highway and going 30mph. My rpm was still around 2500. I was able to pull over and turn my car off and that seemed to fix the issue, until I needed to go on the highway again. Everytime my car went to shift to a higher gear when I was hitting between 50 and 55mph it would happen. It took my car to a mechanic who told me my car was undrivable because this would ruin my transmission. I now have a completely dead car due to the part I need being nationally unavailable.

28 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2010 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 01/16/2014

The car would sputter like it was having a hard time accelerating then the electronic throttle body light came on. I was on my way to a dealership to find out what was wrong. I was merging onto a busy interstate when my car went from 60-65 mph down to 30-35 mph while I was still trying to speed up to merge onto the interstate. This incident came very close to resulting in me getting rear ended. The next day I went and had the whole throttle body replaced (January 2013). In October 2013 I started to have the same problems, the throttle body light would come on and the car would sputter like it couldn'ยฟยฟt pick up speed or it would rev up while I was slowing down. I had the throttle body cleaned and it ran okay for a week or two. Then September 2013 I took it to a dealership yet again, they said it was old codes causing the problem. They cleared the codes and it was fine for a little bit. Then around April 2014 it would start up again. It would run fine and on occasion the throttle control light would come on. But in August 2014 it started acting up again. The rpms would rev up from 1 to 3 while in park. I would be sitting at a red light with my foot on the brake and the car would rev up for no reason. It has completely stalled out on me two days in a row. Luckily it was when I was in parking lots. This is a newer car and there is no logical reason to have this much ongoing trouble with the throttle body except some kind of defect. It is also very dangerous. Because it will act up a day or two then be fine for a few days making it difficult for a shop to actually see what the car is doing. The light comes on and it acts up and sometimes when you turn the car off and back on itยฟll be fine. But the fact that it will stall out or decelerate with no notice is very dangerous especially since I drive on a busy interstate at least twice a day.

29 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

While I was driving home from work I was driving approx 50 mph and I lose power and my electronic control throttle light came on. I couldn't go faster then 5 mph and my rpm wouldn't pass 2,000 I pulled over on side of road turned off the car and try to restart but it would only run for a few seconds and cut out again. My home town mechanic said that the issue was the throttle body. The total cost in repair is roughly 500 dollars, and reading online there are more drivers out there having the same issue. I think Dodge should do a recall on there 2008 Dodge Avengers and up.

30 Throttle Control Warning Light On problem of the 2008 Dodge Avenger

Failure Date: 01/02/2014

My Dodge Avenger had a throttle control light illuminated on the dash when first starting the vehicle. Thereafter, the car first would not go over 20 mph. Later this problem progressed. The car only had a small amount of power. It could get up to 30-40 mph on flat areas but struggled to maintain 5 mph on inclines. The vehicle would also shake violently when the transmission was in gear but the vehicle was stopped do to engine vibrations. I have replaced the part and the car is still havin ghte same problem. At this point I'm not sure how to proceed.
