The Massachusetts State Meeting will be held Saturday, September 24th @ 7:00PM.

State Business Meeting Notes, Sept 26, 2021

Mass State business meetings will continue to be held this year virtually, 

The 1st Wednesday of each month on 

Dan’s Region 6 Zoom # 991-061-304, @ 9:30pm.

Massachusetts will now have a State committee made up of 8 people to help with the tasks of the State director. The committee will have 3 coaches, 3 gym club members & 2 judges. Info will be sent in an email to decide how these members will be selected.

SAFE SPORT course for athletes: 6 months before athletes turn 18 they can take the Safe sport course with permission from parents.

Regional Specialists allotments: 

Level 7 – 9:  20% of the total #’1 in each Region will go to Nationals

Meet Fees have gone up:       $125.00 for States

                                                $150.00 for Regionals

Athletic trainers must be at competitions with more than 2 clubs attending.

Gym ACT Program for guys in college:  there is info regarding this program on the USA Gymnastics website for the guys who are in college and want to continue to compete.

Listed below is the schedule of Clinics & Competitions for the 2021-2022 Boys team. We plan to go “in person” to these meets with the boys.  The Compulsory boys’ season goes up through Region 6 Championships. The Optional boys are eligible to go to Nationals.  However, we want to point out that this year for the first time, USA Gymnastics “split” Nationals so now there are two separate National competitions at the end of the season.  The first one is the weekend of April 29th - May 1st and will include Level 7, 8 & 9 athletes who qualify. Level 10 & Elite National qualifiers will compete in May, from Wednesday, May 11th through Sunday May 15th.

IMPORTANT!!!!  The State, Regional & National Competitions listed on the meet schedule are TENTATIVE and may change within the next few months. If you are thinking of going on a vacation during March, April or May, you may want to wait until we have confirmation on these listed dates.

COVID & Competitions: We were informed at the State business meeting on Sunday that parents & athletes should be prepared for the possibility that Covid protocols requiring masking, as well as proof of Covid tests or vaccinations will most likely affect the competition season this year. We will follow whatever Covid protocols are required of us for the safety of the athletes & our families as well as the coaches. 

Covid Tests or Vaccinations: Parents & athletes who are not vaccinated or athletes under 12 years of age may be required to take a Covid test a few days before the scheduled competition to be allowed entry into a competition.  Every competition may be different depending on what the State & Local board of health is requiring so we may not know the Covid protocols & the details of what is required for entry into competitions until close to the competition. Proof of a recent Covid test or vaccination paperwork will likely be required for entry into some of the bigger competitions. We understand that this complicates things somewhat, but we are hopeful that the season will remain “in person”, which is far better than what we had to deal with last year.
