The latest news on Industrial Action
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has formally notified Royal Mail they plan to call on their members who collect, sort and deliver parcels and letters to take national strike action on Thursday 24, Friday 25, Wednesday 30 November and Thursday 1 December 2022.

Royal Mail has well-developed contingency plans, but we cannot fully replace the daily efforts of our frontline workforce. We’ll be doing what we can to keep services running, but we’re sorry this planned strike action is likely to cause you some disruption. Royal Mail and CWU have agreed to jointly engage with ACAS facilitation in an attempt to resolve the current disputes on Change and Pay. There is a commitment on both sides to reach a resolution.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience, and thank you for your understanding.

Movement of mail through our network

Royal Mail operates an air, rail and road network to move letters and parcels between our distribution hubs, mail processing centres and delivery offices around the UK. Here we let you know about any significant issues in our logistics operation.

Air
Our air network operated to schedule over the last 24 hours with the following exceptions. Flights from East Midlands airport to Belfast and Exeter were slightly delayed departing due to ATC restrictions. The flight from Edinburgh to East Midlands was also slightly late arriving for the same reason. As a result, some parcels posted on Monday in the North and Midlands regions of England, due for delivery today in Northern ireland and the far South West of England, may arrive later than expected. So will a small amount of mail posted on Monday in Central and Southern Scotland, due for delivery today in the North and Midlands regions of England.

Rail
Our rail network operated to schedule over the last 24 hours with the following exception. The service from our North East Distribution Centre to Princess Royal Distibution Centre departed late. As a result, some mail posted in the North East of England on Monday, due for delivery today in London and the South East of England may arrive later than expected.

Road
Our road network operated to schedule over the last 24 hours with minimal delays.

Mail Centres
The mail centre below reported not all mail was processed or despatched to schedule over the last 24 hours, and as a result some mail may be delivered later than anticipated.

  • Birmingham Mail Centre: Some mail posted from across the UK on Monday, due for delivery today to addresses in the B, HR and WR postcode areas.
  • Bristol Mail Centre: Some mail posted on Monday in the BA, BS, GL and TA postcode areas, due for delivery today to addresses across the rest of the UK.
  • Chester Mail Centre: Some mail posted from across the UK on Monday, due for delivery today to addresses in the CH, LL and SY postcode areas. Also, some mail posted on Monday in these postcode areas, due for delivery today to addresses across the rest of the UK.
  • Manchester Mail Centre: Some mail posted on Monday in the BL, M, OL and SK postcode areas, due for delivery today to addresses across the rest of the UK.
  • South Midlands Mail Centre: Some mail posted on Monday in the CV, LE, MK and NN postcode areas, due for delivery today to addresses across the rest of the UK.
  • Swindon Mail Centre: Some mail posted from across the UK on Monday, due for delivery today to addresses in the OX, RG and SN postcode areas.
  • Warrington Mail Centre: Some mail posted on Monday in the CW, L, WA and WN postcode areas, due for delivery today to addresses across the rest of the UK.

Deliveries today

Deliveries are operating as normal across the UK today. We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors. In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

We're sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. We will regularly update customers on the offices most impacted here:

  • Avonmouth DO (BS11 and BS20)
  • Bristol East DO (BS5)
  • Coulsdon DO (CR5)

Your post should be delivered by 3pm if you live in a town or city, or 4pm if you live in a rural area.

How long does SingPost normal delivery take?

BASIC SERVICES (LOCAL) 98% of the local Basic Mail within the CBD area and 98% outside the CBD area will be delivered within 1 working day if posted by collection time.
