I lost one of mine but I had a box of bungee cords that I bought a while back and they came with the ball bungee cords and I have been using those to hold the top down in the sunrider position or all the way down. I also use them to tie the rear seat belts to the roll bar so they don't flap in the wind when I have the doors off.

Any of you guys have a pic of your JK with the top Joined May 21, 2009 · 664 Posts
No pic, but putting the sunrider top back is fairly easy (on the two door). Due to conditions at work I use the sunrider alot because it so east to put back. Its just unlatch, pull the sliders forward and fold back. Joined Mar 1, 2009 · 376 Posts
Here is a link that has a video that shows you how to do everything. Put it in sunrider, all the way down, and back up. Hope this helps.

There's a video on jeep.com that shows how to operate both the soft top and the sunrider. For sun-rider operation you have to pull out the drip rails above the door on both sides. Then slide the plastic things on the soft top frame at the pivot point to the rear. Then unlatch the header latches located behind the visors. After that, just flip it
back. It's simple. I hope my description helps. Joined May 4, 2009 · 884 Posts
alot of people have a hard time putting the softtop down the first time. You're probably doing the same thing that I did. When you fold the top while retracting it, make sure you're making a "W" pattern. Odds are you're making a "M" which is why it's getting stuck on the bars. Just fold the top the opposite way you did it the first time and I hope it
helps. Otherwise I want to say there's a thread somewhere on here that helps explain it with pics. Joined Jun 20, 2009 · 15 Posts
Just bought my 2007 JK over memorial day weekend... I ran into the same issue with missing straps. If you go to Wal-Mart, you can find 12" long straps in a 6-pack for about 2 bucks that work perfectly. alot of people have a hard time putting the softtop down the first time. You're probably doing the same thing that I did.

The way I figured it out was that too much material was hanging over the back seats when it is in the "M." Correct me if
I am wrong, but the top seems to want to fold in the "M" pattern, right? After a couple of tries, I found that once you get used to giving it that extra fold, it works perfectly.

Sunrider straps XPLORE Outdoors has them. Search XPLORE Jeep Wrangler Sunrider Straps on Amazon. Can you leave a soft top on a Jeep in the winter? To answer your lingering question, yes, it is completely fine to use Jeep soft tops in the winter. If you don't have dual tops, a soft top will still be able to keep you warm during those cold months. Jeep heaters are known to be quite good, and they also heat up quickly.
How long do soft tops last on a Jeep?As a rule of thumb, the average life of a Jeep soft top is 3-5 years.
