Samsung fridge icing up under crisper drawer

Hi there! Thanks so much for asking. There are actually a few different things that could be causing this leak from your refrigerator. I recommend going through the steps in this link to help with this: https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshooting/TSG01001852/

Once these steps are completed, if the refrigerator is still leaking, it will require service. There’s a couple options here we can take based on your warranty status.
If you’re in the one-year manufacturer’s warranty, please gather together the full model and serial number of your unit, and have ready your name, street address, 2 phone numbers (Best contact, alternative number), email, and place of purchase. Provide this information to an agent, in one of the following options below:
1.) Reach out to a Moderator directly, by selecting our name and the message option. When messaging please use a link to this thread in addition to the info above.
2.) Reach out to us on Facebook or Twitter. Please provide the same info as above, as well as the link to your thread.
3.) You can also contact 1-800-726-7864, if you’d like to speak with a live agent about this situation.
4.) Last, if you wish to speak with a live agent and don’t want to call in, you can reach out to our Live Chat team.
If you’re out of the one-year manufacturer’s warranty:
1. You can utilize this link to locate an authorized service center in your area to obtain estimates for repairs: http://www.Samsung.com/us/support/service/location or reach out to any local repair shop.
2. The other option, would be a replacement of the unit. Samsung.com offers amazing deals on different models that may be to your liking, check out those deals here: https://www.samsung.com/us/refrigerators/

I had the exact same problem with my Samsung fridge. When the freezing/leaking happened, it happened at the most inconvenient times such as getting ready to attend a wedding, getting ready to leave for a doctor's appt, etc. I hated it so much. Unfortunately the only way to fix (temporarily) it is to open it up and aim a hair dryer where the drain is for about 45mins-1hr. Takes that long because you don't want to use a high setting or else the plastic surrounding the drain might warp. Either that or put all the contents in a cooler and unplug it for the night to defrost it. Then it'll happen again 6 months later. I sold my condo and swore I'd never get a Samsung fridge again. The only real solution is to get rid of it and buy a new fridge.

I hate Samsung fridges. I have a French Door one with ice maker and water dispenser and that thing acts up so much. Warm air gets into the ice maker mechanism and will constantly malfunction and no longer dispenses ice. You have to take it apart and let it thaw out so it works again, but then it'll act up again a short while after.

I'm sorry I don't have any practical advice for you OP, but just consider this a venting session for Samsung fridges. They are garbage.

Besides defrosting the ice, you need to clear the drain line as there may be some blockage stopping the water from draining to the bottom. You can try running a long "pipe cleaner" thru there as well and then flushing any debris in there with water. You should see water coming out down below.

This fridge problem is not only a Samsung problem. I've had it happen in my two fridges and neither are Samsung's.

Not the back, just the cover inside the fridge. If you're moving out, just don't bother and let the new owner deal with it.

You can also use some copper wire.

There is a fix, I posted it above. It's pretty dumb that they didn't design it properly in the first place.

wow yours had a much worse problem then mine
it never leaked out for me, just a big hunk of ice in the back or water in crisper drawers

but it does sound like i can just cut the power and it won’t break the fridge

say I let it defrost for a couple days... where does all that melted ice/water go?
i know there’s a drip pan in the back on the bottom.
if there’s too much water, and it’s not evaporating
will it overflow to the floor behind the fridge...?

yes that’s what I mean.... i’ve seen videos of how to open up the back panel

involves unscrewing a few screws, then prying it open
there may be styroforam pads that are somewhat glued on and prying it open might break it
or it just doesn’t seal the same anymore

which is why i don’t want to open it up

That's a good point, actually. The first time I opened mine, I ripped off a chunk of styrofoam at the bottom right corner. Thankfully I was able to super glue it back into place. Really felt like I was gonna break the damn thing trying to undo the clips.

I removed the twin cooling panel to check. The difficulty was to put it back since some of the foam and tape were ripped from the removal. I didn't see anything wrong.

My fridge has ice accumulation on the panel behind the right crisper drawer. The ice is not touching the bottom, hence don't think it is water dripping from the fridge evaporator. The first time I noticed the ice was 1" thick, filled the empty space from the drawer end to the panel. I now have to manually remove the ice at every month end using a bowl of hot water and a towel. After the ice is gone, I placed palm on that area, I can feel it is ice cold behind the panel. What is behind the right crispy tray panel? I don't think the freezer evaporator is placed that high. Other than this ice problem, it runs well, no water issue.

How to fix the ice accumulation problem?

I,m no expert here. Sounds like the drain is freezing???. But who knows? Watch these 2 links maybe some info you could use. BTW on my fridge I ordered heater SR201 and updated heater clip. Waiting on parts. Good Luck

Nope, the fridge evaporator / heater is not the problem on mine. I guess it was designed to work for about 8 yrs. I placed order for GE GNE27JGMBB with unknown ETA. Hope Sammy will last during the wait period.

Why is there ice under my crisper drawer?

Ice might appear due to food debris, standing water, or ice buildup clogging the drain trough or drain tube, which is found along the back wall. The drain trough and drain tube will only be visible on a 200, 300, 500, or 600 Series, refer to 200/300-500-600 Series Refrigerator Drain Tube Cleaning.

What causes my Samsung refrigerator to accumulate water under the vegetable drawers?

Many times when you see a pool of water (or one that froze into a sheet of ice), it can often be attributed to condensation or a spill you didn't notice. The most common place to see water is at the bottom of the compartment, such as below the vegetable or crisper drawers.

Why does ice form under drawer in Samsung refrigerator?

Check the air vents on the freezer. Clear or move away anything that is blocking the vents. Keeping the rear of your refrigerator clean from dust and debris can also help prevent ice build up. It is recommended that the rear panel is hoovered once or twice a year.

Why is my crisper drawer filling with water?

The most common reason for standing water in your refrigerator is because there is something wrong with the defrost drain tube. When the defrost runs, it melts excess frost off the evaporator so it doesn't build up.
