Mission 08: Westminster Abbey
Objective I Locate Newton's tomb and reveal its secrets.
Objective II Solve the mystery of the first scroll poem.
Objective III Unravel the meaning of the second scroll poem.
Objective IV Uncover the riddle of the third scroll poem.
Objective V Decipher the mystery of the fourth scroll poem.
Objective VI Resolve the secrets of the fifth scroll poem.

Objective I - Locate Newton's tomb and reveal its secrets.

From the outset, head to your right into a little dead end alcove full of statues. Search for the statue with a symbol on it (it's to your left in the corner if you're facing the dead end) and examine the statue to find a Gold Coin, the first of three secrets on the level. Then, head rightward in the other direction and stay along the top of the horizontal corridor. Eventually you'll be able to head north into the location of Newton's tomb. When you do, you'll instantly be confronted by a lone henchman (though you can take him out in a rather unique way involving the light in front of you and the puddle next to the thug). Straight across the way on the wall on the other side of some pues, you can also procure the Sun Sphere, the second of three secrets found on this stage.

Objective II - Solve the mystery of the first scroll poem.

After grabbing that, Newton's tomb itself is what's going to grab your eye next. Go over to it and examine it. After examining all of it, take a look at the planets, and more notably, the hole near them. If you put your Priory Ring into the hole, you will end up getting the Sun Orb, an item we'll need later. With that in hand, watch the cutscene and whatnot, then go back to the previous room where you started the mission out. Once in the Main Hall, head forward and to the right, to Chaucer's Tomb. Examine the bottom of it to find a place where you should place the Sun Orb - once you do, then spell out "PARDONER" in the puzzle opened by the orb (it must go in order around the perimeter of the square). Doing so will reveal the Large Ring for you to add to your inventory. You can also head to the right of where you are, to a cabinet along the wall. Open the cabinet and examine the clothes hanging there. They will move to the right revealing a Brush for you to take. Make sure to have that before proceeding.

Objective III - Unravel the meaning of the second scroll poem.

The Cloister is our next destination, the entrance to which is located right next to where we entered Newton's tomb. Once in The Cloister, be prepared to go forward and attack three guards. You can try to get a jump on one by dropping a light fixture on him, but chances are you'll have an easier time just taking them on by one. Sophie is vital here as a distraction, so make sure to position yourself so she takes some attacks while you have Langdon fight and eliminate the enemy threat one by one. Then, go down the hallway and enter the Art Restoration Hall via the door on your left. Run down the hall, taking out both enemies you come across. Be sure that when the hall turns right you don't neglect to head into the closet next to the door into the larger room to find a Large Bandage. You'll also need to flip the light switch behind the door in that room before proceeding. In the restoration room itself, search behind the door you entered via to find Bolt Cutters inside a cardboard box... at this time, you'll likely be assailed by another goon, so fend him off before continuing.

Da Vinci's Codex Ardunel can be found on some covered boxes on the other side of the door (simply examine them on the right side and pan the camera until you find it). That's the final secret of this stage. With that in your inventory, you can run back down the previous hallway and back through the door into the previous corridor. Then, run down the corridor and head right (instead of heading left back to the Main Hall) to the door with a lock on it. Use the Bolt Cutters on the lock and then go through the now-open door. (You may need to fight a stray goon here).

The closet is dark when you enter it, but you can fix that by going behind the door and examining the box on the top of the pallet. Behind it is a light switch, so turn it on. All we really need to find in here is the Marble Cleaner in a box underneath the left side of the workbench. Once you grab that, you can then head all the way back to where we just found Da Vinci's Codex Ardunel. You'll need to fight another goon in here, but once he's dispatched you can then head to the upper right corner of the room and use your Soapy Brush (by combining the Marble Cleaner with the Brush) on the scroll on the Shakespeare statue. Then put the Large Ring on his finger pointing at the scroll, and in return you'll get the Hand Crank. Head all the way back to the Main Hall now. (You'll need to fight another thug en route, and he's incredibly strong, so be tenacious and careful).

Objective IV / Objective V - Uncover the riddle of the third scroll poem. / Decipher the mystery of the fourth scroll poem.

Once back in the Main Hall, head to where we started out and head down the unexplored corridor, one we've never gone down. Here you can find the tomb of Henry III on your right. Use the Hand Crank on the hole in the monument and then make the letters that appear read so they say TEMPLES. Doing so will net you the King Symbol. Now we must access St. John's Chapel, which believe it or not is behind the scaffolding behind your current location. To push it out of the way unlock the two wheel locks (one's on the right, one's on the left) and push it rightward. Then use the Bolt Cutters on the lock on the door. Proceed inward thereafter.

You can find a First Aid kit underneath some books in a cardboard box in this room if you want it - otherwise, locate the tomb of Baron Hunsdon and use the King Symbol on the missing piece on the tomb after analyzing it. Then, press the buttons in this order: Queen, Baron, Knight, then Soldier. This will net you the Unusual Cylinder for your inventory. After another cutscene, you'll have to fend off an enemy attack and return all the way back to the Main Hall. It's no big deal... the stage is almost done anyway!

Objective VI - Resolve the secrets of the fifth scroll poem.

Head back to Issac Newton's tomb. When you do, slay the henchman guarding the tomb, and then examine the tomb itself. Combine the Sub Orb with the Unusual Cylinder and put the resulting item into the hole on the tomb, which will then net you a piece of Torn Scroll. Use your own piece of Torn Scroll to match up the sides, and the result is that you'll have to take care of a rather pesky puzzle. There is no real explanation to how to do this, you just need to figure the picture out on your own. Once you do, you'll be confronted with a huge plot twist and the final part of the stage.

Basically, you'll need to solve the cryptex while distracting Teabing long enough to do so. The answer to the cryptex is PAYENS and will likely need to be entered via two different efforts. Hence, the first time you get to ask Teabing a question or comment to him, ask him about only the worthy being able to solve the mystery of the Grail. Then get as much of "PAYENS" as possible on the cryptex before being interrupted. Finally, tell him he's responsible for Sophie's grandfather's death and you should be able to finish it up. Thereafter, you can finish watching the cutscene, and the mission will end.
