This quote, by Ziad K. Abdelnour, presents a great analogy for life. Some versions (Anonymous) of the quote read “Life is like a camera. Focus on what’s important. Capture the good times. Develop from the negatives. And if things don’t work out, just take another shot.” In life, our camera might be out of focus–focused on things that aren’t important. We may forget fond happy memories–to capture the good times. And after things don’t work out, we may not give them another shot. But as any photographer can attest, it takes the right focus, a timely capture, and several shots to get the “perfect” picture. And when it comes to several shots, that can sometimes be in the hundreds. Photographers rarely take only one shot and call it good. How can we apply this same concept to our day to day life? Well, let’s begin by evaluating our focus. Is it on what’s important? Next, what are the things we’re capturing in our minds? Are we remembering the good times? And are we developing form the negatives? Finally, let’s remember that when things don’t work out the first time, we might just need to take another shot. Just like a camera focuses on any particular object or person while blurring the surrounding during the capture of a shot, you need to do the same for life as well. In life, you need to check out what is important to you and thus, focus upon that. Make sure that you are focusing only upon what is important to you and remove everything else in the surrounding. Try to capture the good times only, and forget the others. There is no point in clinging onto the things that make you sad or depressed. Simply focus on the things that matter, instead of trying to hold back every single thing and hurting yourself in the process. Make sure that you are filing only the good and memorable incidents, and are preserving them in the disk of your brain. Try to develop from the negatives, and in case things aren’t working, go and get another shot. Life will not always happen as you want it to go like! It is similar to a camera that focuses on a particular object and takes the shot. Life works similar to that of a camera wherein you get the provision to develop from the negatives. You have the negatives along with yourself, and you can develop from those negatives whenever you feel like, and get yourself a perfect picture. On the contrary, you will also come across certain times when things will not work out in your favor. What would you do with a camera in that case? Leave the former image and take another shot, isn’t it? Do the same with your life as well. Instead of holding onto things that didn’t work out, give another try, and keep rolling ahead. Learn to accept the fact that not everything will take place as per your wish. You need to understand that there’s at least something that is intended to nurture you, and with every attempt, you start getting better each day. Dear Diary: 'Absolutely everything is fine.
