I am not receiving emails on gmail

Gmail users are sometimes unable to receive new emails due to various reasons like insufficient account storage, antivirus firewalls or even server outages. Here's how to fix these issues.

By India Today Web Desk: Gmail is one of the most popular email services in the world and also serves as the center of social media.

One of the biggest issues you’ll run into with Gmail is not receiving any new emails. It can happen due to a number of reasons like insufficient account storage, antivirus firewalls or even server outages.

You can apply a few troubleshooting tips to start receiving emails in your inbox again.

Ways to fix Gmail if you are not getting emails:

- Clear Google storage space:

If you are running out of storage space because your inbox is filled with old emails and you have stored lots of images and videos in your Google Drive, you are likely to stop getting emails.

In that case, clear some space by deleting unrequired large files, mail, spam, trash folders. You can also upgrade your Google storage plan. This might fix your issue and you will start receiving emails.

- Emails going to another folder

Gmail automatically filters emails into different folders. If you have stopped receiving emails in your inbox from a new sender, it is possible that Gmail has marked it as spam.

To find your mail, you can go to the spam folder and in case you find it, you can move it to the inbox by selecting 'Report not spam' or 'Move to inbox'.

You can also check your trash folder. There is always a chance that you delete the email you are looking for accidentally.

- Check if the Gmail server is down:

When you are unable to receive emails on Gmail, you can check if the servers are down.

To do this, you can do a simple Google search or go to some website that helps detect if a particular service is not working. Downdetector is one such popular service that you can rely upon.

- Make sure you have an active internet connection:

You need an active internet connection to receive emails. If your internet connection is slow or weak, Gmail will have trouble receiving and loading emails.

- Disable firewall:

A number of antiviruses have the ‘Firewall’ feature enabled by default, which could lead to an error, since it may be blocking emails. In this case, you can either try disabling the firewall or the antivirus from running at startup altogether.

- Try Gmail on a different browser:

Opening Gmail on a different browser has worked as an effective fix for many users. You can use any of the popular browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Opera or Edge to open Gmail.

- Set up accounts correctly while using the iPhone mail app:

Users might face some issues while using Gmail on an iPhone. For this, users should make sure their Google account is properly set up and linked.

Step 1: Go to 'Settings' and scroll down to 'Mail'.

Step 2: Tap on 'Accounts' and then on 'Add Account'.

Step 3: Select the email provider and sign in to the designated account.

Step 4: With this, your Google account will be linked to your iPhone's Mail app and you will start receiving emails.
