I am blessed and highly favored meaning

Look at Paul.  He was a favored man, but look at all his hardships.  He was chased out of many towns, cursed, hated by many (and I mean many), imprisoned (on more than once occasion), and eventually martyred for his faith.

We frequently hear statements like, “I am so blessed to have a beautiful home,” “My family is blessed to be wealthy,” or “I am so blessed! “Or “Lord, grant us success in our game.” We frequently describe blessings in terms of material possessions. Success is typically associated with money, family, education, and employment. Receiving worldly possessions is the typical understanding of what it means to be really blessed by God.

But is that all there is? Would someone be considered extravagantly blessed if they have everything this world has to offer? Let’s discuss for the true blessed and highly favored meaning.

The word “blessed” has many different meanings in the English language, according to the Merriam Webster:

  •         bringing pleasure, contentment, or good fortune

example: a blessed event

In Greek’s portrayal, Makários is the source of the Greek word for “blessed.” An extension of God’s grace, a believer is said to be in an advantageous position to receive his gifts (favor). Receiving the Lord’s inbirthings of faith results in this (HELPS Word Studies).

Blessed is described in the Bible as having been sanctified or consecrated.

These definitions, I must say, slightly startled me. I was raised in a religious family where the expression “I am blessed” is most frequently used to describe luck, a desired result, or comfort. In actuality, I personally frequently employ it in this manner. But as I grew older, I began to question whether I was truly blessed. And is this truly what it means to be blessed?

And I understood that being fortunate meant having the ability to breathe and experience life, thanks to Jesus Christ’s love. Others would contend that being alive is a curse. Mostly because they are unaware of their own life’s purpose. For them, having a life has no purpose and is not worthwhile. Others believe that having more material wealth than you actually need is a sign of blessing. But when difficulties arise, the things you have can’t bring you comfort. Knowing without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus loves and cares for you is what it means to be blessed. Even though you cannot see Him, God is still revealed through the creation. It has become clear to everyone that there is a big and powerful being up there. Being blessed therefore entails having a close relationship with Christ, and when I seek him, everything else follows.

Here are a few passages from the Bible that explain the term “blessing”:

  1. James 1:25

But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.

  1. Luke 11:28

Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”

  1. Revelation 1:3

Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

  1. John 1:16

From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.

  1. Ephesians 1:3-5

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

  1. Genesis 12:2

And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.

  1. Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; “Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you shall be satisfied. “Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.”
  1. James 1:12

  1. Luke 6:38

give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure, you use it will be measured back to you.
