Using In-text Citation APA in-text citation style uses the author's last name and the year of publication, for example: (Field, 2005). In-text citations include the last name of the author followed by a page number enclosed in parentheses. "Here's a direct quote" (Smith 8). If the author's name is not given, then use the first word or words of the title. Follow the same formatting that was used in the works cited list, such as quotation marks.

Name the original work in-text and add the original date of publication in parentheses after the author's name. Provide the secondary source information in parentheses at the end of the sentence with the words “as cited in.” in Pitt, 2009). Provide only the secondary source in the reference list.

Cite web pages in text as you would any other source, using the author and date if known. Keep in mind that the author may be an organization rather than a person. For sources with no author, use the title in place of an author. For sources with no date use n.d. (for no date) in place of the year: (Smith, n.d.).
