I know I shouldn’t, but I really like to drive my Jeep without the seatbelt. I don’t think it should matter, especially if I’m off-roading in the middle of nowhere California. My 2019 Jeep Renegade has an annoying alarm that goes off when I don’t have the seatbelt on. How can I turn that off? Answer provided byFor legal and safety reasons, you should never drive without your seatbelt on—for any reason. If however, for unrelated reasons, you need to turn the seatbelt chime off, there is something you can do. You can use the Diagnostic Screen to turn off the seatbelt alarm in a 2019 Jeep Renegade. Sometimes, you might be keeping heavy cargo on one of the seats. This could trigger the seatbelt chime even though no one is sitting there. If that has been happening—and you want to turn the seatbelt chime off for that reason–there is a trick that some Jeep owners use. Here’s what you’ll need to do:
From then on, when your Jeep is running, the seatbelt chime will not sound—though the display will still show the visual warning. To re-enable the chime, simply repeat the process. This trick should never be used to circumvent the proper use of the seatbelt safety function as required by law. The best (and only legal) way to prevent the seatbelt chime while driving, is to ensure that the driver and all passengers are wearing their seatbelts. Dec 17, 2011 Hey everyone, we live about 1/4 mile off the road and between shooting to the barn to feed the animals or taking the kids to the road to meet the school bus, the seat belt alarm is aggravating! ! I know, I know, but I do wear it when on the road, I see there is a sequence to disable it in the jks just wondering if its the same in the commander? Joined

I think it's the same. Not sure where I found it but I disabled mine. To remove seatbelt chime... 1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, and fasten the drivers seatbelt. Joined

I've been checking out scrap yards by me for the buckles I can just leave in. But they have nothing Joined May 2, 2008 · 2,673 Posts
you could probably pull the connector apart and put a jumper in there to fool the chime into thinking the belts always buckled. Joined Sep 17, 2005 · 1,307 Posts
I find it funny that it takes longer to write a post then to put your seatbelt on. Joined Apr 25, 2011 · 2,448 Posts

I remember doing something similar to this and it worked. I've been looking for the original thread, but not much luck. If I remember right, I didn't have to turn the ignition on, just to the Acc spot. If that doesn't work, try turning the ignition on, doing the sequence, then turning the vehicle
back to Acc, not off, and wait for the single chime. Joined Jul 14, 2011 · 264 Posts

the single chime. It definitely works, and yes you just have to turn it to the ON position on each turn. You can find the original post if you search on my username, but the procedure listed earlier is a complete cut & paste from my post from a few years back. As some have said, it may take you 2-3 tries to get the timing right. Joined Jul 16, 2009 · 227 Posts

I find it interesting it is the law to wear a seatbelt in Indiana, but you do not have to wear a helmet on a motorcycle... |
