  1. From the Home screen, tap .

  2. Tap Select screen lock.

  3. Enter your current unlock sequence, then tap Next.

  4. Tap PIN to change your number lock sequence or tap Password to change your alphanumeric lock sequence.

  5. You’re prompted to enter and reenter your new lock sequence.

    From then on, you will need to enter that sequence and tap OK to unlock the screen.

    NOTE

    • You have 5 opportunities to enter your unlock pattern, PIN or password. If you used all of the opportunities, you can try again after 30 seconds.

    • If you have set up a Microsoft Exchange account, you are only allowed to set up a password to unlock the screen.

    • When you can’t recall your unlock pattern:

      • If you’ve created a Google Account on the phone, tap Forgot pattern?. Then you are required to sign in with your Google Account to unlock your phone.

      • If you forgot the unlock pattern, you can tap Forgot Pattern?, enter your backup PIN sequence, then tap OK to unlock your phone.

iOS

  • Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode. On devices without Touch ID, go to Settings > Passcode. If you have an iPhone X, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode.
  • Tap Change Passcode.
  • Enter a new complex* six-digit passcode. (Note that iOS 11 devices may only have the option of creating a custom alphanumeric code listed.)

Android

Please note that Android devices do not have one standard way of changing your passcode. However, changing your passcode is usually listed in your device’s Settings. These are general instructions to guide you, but they may differ slightly from your device. We recommend looking up instructions to your specific device if the guide is not sufficient:

  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Lock screen.
  • Tap Screen lock. If presented, enter the current PIN or Pattern.
  • Tap PIN
  • Enter a new complex* six-digit PIN, then tap Continue.
  • Re-enter the complex six-digit PIN then tap OK.

*What is a complex passcode?

A complex passcode or PIN includes numbers that:

  • Are not ascending or descending (e.g., 123456 or 654321), and;
  • Do not have more than two consecutive repeated digits (e.g., 143333)
