How much is a planned parenthood visit without insurance

Texas law prohibits us from accepting private insurance or Medicaid for abortion services.

We accept cash and credit/debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express). Discover cards and business or personal checks are not accepted. If you are using a credit/debit card that is not in your name, the cardholder must be present with a valid photo ID.

Abortion Care Resources

As of September 1, 2021, Texas law restricts abortion care after about six weeksof pregnancy, possibly earlier. We are still here for you. If we can’t provide care inour health center, we can help you find out-of-state care and financial help.

Abortion is safe and legal in all 50 states, but different states have different lawsabout when you can get an abortion there. There are options for abortion care inLouisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, and other surrounding states. Clickhere to find an out-of-state abortion provider, and click here to see a full map ofPlanned Parenthood health centers that offer abortion care.

We know that this law makes an already-stressful situation even morechallenging. If you need financial assistance or additional support to help obtainout-of-state care, please fill out this form (for Spanish form, click here) andsomeone on our team will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

It all depends. There may be a range of low-cost services available to you at your local health center and for some patients, there are no-cost services.

The price for services at Planned Parenthood depends on many different factors, like:

  • The health care service you need
  • What kind of  health insurance you have — if any, including Medicaid
  • The services your insurance plan covers
  • The amount of funding the health center receives
  • The options the health center has to help cover the cost of your visit
  • How much money you make

There are definitely situations in which your Planned Parenthood visit might be totally free. Your visit could cost you nothing, depending on the service you need and your health insurance plan, if you’re insured.

Most health insurance plans must cover 100% of the costs of preventive care — like birth control, STD testing, cancer screenings, and wellness visits — with no copay or out-of-pocket costs to you. If you don’t have insurance or your insurance doesn’t cover the cost of your visit, the health center might use a sliding scale, which means it would figure out the price depending on how much money you make.

The Trump administration forced Planned Parenthood out of the Title X program, which provided funds for patients to get free or low-cost services. The Biden administration is working on changing this so that Planned Parenthood health centers will be able to provide affordable health care to even more people.

We believe everyone deserves access to affordable, high-quality health care. If you’re worried about costs, talk with the staff at your local Planned Parenthood. They’ll do everything they can to help you get the care you need at a price you can afford.

Health care costs can be confusing. We’re here to help.

Let us know if you'd like a free estimate of the costs of your care. This estimate is good for 30 days and is our best guess of what you'll be charged. The estimate is not binding, and is not a guarantee of the final billed charges to you. Your final bill may be different from the estimate we give you for reasons such as complications, recommended treatment, and services ordered by your provider. If you ask for an estimate, we will give it to you within five business days.

Price List

This list contains the undiscounted costs for our most common health care services.  The price listed might be different than the amount you actually pay. For example, if you have health insurance, Medicaid, or qualify for discounted care your out-of-pocket costs might be much lower or even $0. Let us know if you’d like an estimate of your anticipated charges for your care.

The list also includes CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, which are a set of standardized codes to describe identical medical services among different health care providers. Because everyone uses the same codes to indicate the same services, CPT codes make it easier for you to understand and compare costs.

Planned Parenthood is committed to quality, affordable health care. Please let us know if you have questions or need assistance covering the cost of your visit.
