Beware!NJJayhawker , COUPLES Jul 18, 2022 We have stayed at this property in the past and did not encounter the following situation. Had it not been for the alerts my bank sends when any charges hit my card, I would have never known. Apparently this property charges a $50 security deposit immediately upon check in along with the full charge for every night of the stay (whether in person or digitally). Once you check out, the charge is reversed and the regular charges for the stay apply. There is no prior notification on either the website for HIE, the local website for this property, details of the room nor the reservation conversation. I thought this a very sly and slick practice. Also the AC units in the rooms do not shut off; they have a permanent fan blowing. The temperature can be adjusted but the fan will continue to blow. The front desk suggested unplugging the AC unit but the cable goes right from the unit deep into the floor, not to an outlet; so this fix was not practicable. In the case of Room 236 which we stayed in, the in room safe was broken (looked like a forced entry if the prior guest didn't remember their combination; the lock was totally gone from the safe making it unusable). We've stayed before and will stay again; overall not a bad property; just a few minor glitches this stay. Great Hotel!!BSH101 , BUISNESS Jan 13, 2022 I had a great time at this hotel. My bf and I have been trying to get some type of resolution since July. We have had Monmouth County get involved. Dealt with a rude and unprofessional owner W. Capell of Hotels Unlimited. So I would never stay a holiday inn or a holiday inn express ever These private owners really don't give a hoot and the holiday inn name is really being dragged under Holiday Inn Express - AWFULwkrsr , FAMILY Nov 03, 2021 When we checked in, the young man at the desk told me the room was $400.00 - only kidding......what kind of welcome is that.! We had to change rooms also. The pillows had 2 head impressions on it like someone had been laying on the bed and there was bandages on the bathroom floor. Didn't tell us anything about the wedding shuttle, give us the guest gift bags, etc... When other relatives came in and asked about the shuttle he was annoyed and pointed "the sign is right there!" . Really rude, unprofessional, couldn't be bothered. While waiting at the desk, 2 other guests came to desk. One requested a TV remote which he said they had a shortage of,, and the other told him that the other bed in the room was not made up. Terrible. The woman who took care of the breakfast buffet was great - kept everything clean and filled. That is why I gave it a 2 out of 5. The bed was good. The manager who was there the next day gave us a small discount on the room and apologized. We have gone to other Holiday Inn Expresses and there were great - this one is run and maintained terrible. Pool was dirty and closed the whole weekend. Reservation not honoredAmber N , FAMILY Sep 26, 2021 DO NOT book a room here if you want your reservation honored. I booked a room for two nights during a busy festival weekend - EIGHT MONTHS in advance. I called the week before to confirm everything was okay with my reservation - they confirmed it was. I show up the evening of the reservation and was told by the front desk clerk that "I see your reservation, but we don't have a room for you." The clerk was quite unapologetic and not helpful in trying to secure a room at another property. I asked him to call his manager, which he said he did, but they were also not able to offer any help. Again - it was a very busy weekend so nearby hotels that I called were all booked. (Side note: another guest showed up soon after we did and the exact same thing happened to them) Finally I called IHG customer service since it was clear the front desk clerk and the manager on duty were unable or unwilling to help, and after about an hour on the phone, IHG customer service informed me that there was a room 45 minutes away for $284. Would they be willing to comp the room or give me a discount since my other reservation was not honored? No. But we were exhausted so I decided to pay. So she took my credit card information and booked us the room 45 minutes away. Not ideal, but at least it's a room. We get to THAT property (another Holiday Inn Express) and guess what! No room available and likely none nearby because it's a football weekend. I break down in tears of exhaustion and anger (it's past 2am at this point) and the very kind front desk clerk at this property told us to hold on - she might be able to help us. After about 20 minutes she comes back and tells us that someone had vacated a first floor room earlier in the evening for a higher floor. The room had not been cleaned by housekeeping but she freshened it up for us. She wanted to make sure it was okay before charging me for it (of course she didn't have the authority to give us the room for free so I didn't push it - again, she was very kind and helpful). At this point we were so exhausted and it was clear there were no other rooms anywhere nearby, so we took it. Pretty sure the linens were not clean. Upshot: we stayed in a dirty room in the middle of a global pandemic and were charged over $200 for it because THIS hotel did not honor our reservation. The ONLY IHG person out of the 5 we interacted with during this whole ordeal that was at all helpful was the front desk clerk at the second hotel - we are extremely grateful for her help in our desperate situation. I've been on the phone with IHG customer service for over four hours at this point trying to secure a refund for this. I am livid and it is going to take a lot to convince me to ever stay at an IHG property again. This experience ruined what should have been a joyous weekend with my sister. |
