Harry potter goblet of fire illustrated release date

J.K. Rowling is the author of the seven Harry Potter books, which have sold over 500 million copies, been translated into over 80 languages, and made into eight blockbuster films. She also wrote three short series companion volumes for charity, including Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which later became the inspiration for a new series of films. Harry’s story as a grown-up was later continued in a stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which J.K. Rowling wrote with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany.

In 2020, she returned to publishing for younger children with the fairy tale The Ickabog, which she initially published for free online for children in lockdown, later donating all her book royalties to help vulnerable groups affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

J.K. Rowling has received many awards and honors for her writing, including for her detective series written under the name Robert Galbraith. She supports a wide number of humanitarian causes through her charitable trust Volant, and is the founder of the children’s care reform charity Lumos.

For as long as she can remember, J.K. Rowling wanted to be a writer, and is at her happiest in a room, making things up. She lives in Scotland with her family.

Jim Kay won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 2012 for his illustrations in A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. Jim studied illustration at the University of Westminster and since graduating has worked in the archives of Tate Britain and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. Jim has produced concept work for television and contributed to a group exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. He now lives and works in Northamptonshire, England, with his wife.

Reaching #10 in the Amazon U.K. Best Sellers book chart (#1 in Children’s Books), and #1 in the Amazon U.S. Best Sellers book chart, this illustrated edition is already a success, which is unsurprising seeing as the Harry Potter series has spent 549 weeks to date on The New York Times Best Sellers list for Children’s Series.

Beginning October 8th, Bloomsbury will kick off U.K. tour An Evening With Jim Kay, offering an evening listening to Jim Kay discussing the ins and outs of illustrating J.K. Rowling’s series. The tour will also include opportunities for guests to have their copies of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire signed, and receive a free print taken from the book.

The fifth instalment in the illustrated series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is already in the works, and Kay will also be illustrating the final two books in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Illustrated editions of Harry Potter companion books, also written by J.K. Rowling for charity, were published in previous years. The Tales of Beedle The Bard released as editions illustrated by Chris Riddell (U.K. edition) and Lisbeth Zwerger (U.S. edition) in 2018, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them released as an edition illustrated by Olivia Lomenech Gill in 2017. Both books are now also available in paperback. The illustrated edition of third companion book, Quidditch Through The Ages, written by J.K. Rowling and illustrated by Emily Gravett, will be released in October 2020.

J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World continues to dominate Children’s Books Best Sellers list and regularly break through into overall Books and Fiction Best Sellers lists on The New York Times and Amazon. In the coming years fans can expect the aforementioned illustrated editions, further 20th anniversary Hogwarts House editions of the remaining four books, the continuation of J.K. Rowling’s Cormoran Strike series (published under pseudonym Robert Galbraith) and three more Fantastic Beasts screenplays.

With a near-constant roll-out of merchandise, games, platforms and publications, fan fatigue is always a risk for the Wizarding World franchise. Wizarding World Digital aims to offer new experiences for old and new Potter fans alike, and with the fourth in a series of illustrated editions of the original series hitting charts and recently released mobile game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite topping download charts, it’s clear fans are still invested, and willing to invest.
