1. Doing Time With God - Bill DyerAfter the author was robbed and shot at a bank ATM, God called him to go into prisons and share his testimony with inmates. This book of teaching stories reveals how God's love changes lives when crime victims and prisoners come together for healing and peace. Even though their exchanges aren't always pretty, they are beautiful in their openness and honesty. This book is about trusting God to do what we alone cannot. It is written so readers can see themselves in the stories and reflect on their own walk with God.

Good books for christian womens book club

Hi there! If you are here, you may be looking for an online christian book club to join or recommendations of christian books for a women’s book club.

Whatever the reason, I hope you find what you are looking for here!

I want to start off by letting you know that you won’t find recommendations for many popular Christian authors such as T.D. Jakes, Sarah Young (Jesus Calling), Max Lucado, Rick Warren, Lysa Terkeurst, Priscilla Shirer, Joyce Meyer, Rachel Hollis, Joel Osteen, Craig Groeschel, John and Lisa Bevere, Christine Caine, Beth Moore, Steven Furtick, etc.

A lot of these authors engage in teachings that, in my opinion, are not biblical such as: New Age beliefs, prosperity gospel, eisegesis, etc.

Now, I don’t get into that in this post and I don’t know every author that does that so I slowly discover this as I go. If you find the author to one of our recommendations practices those teachings listed above, please let me know. I will appreciate it!

And even though this is an online Christian book club, we do have book recommendations that are not from Christian authors. There are some that are non-fiction or self-help/motivational which may be from nonbelievers.

I hope you don’t think this is a bit confusing: we read non-Christian authors, but we won’t read those authors mentioned earlier. Well, that’s because we’d rather not read any false biblical teachings. And also, we like to have a wider perspectives on different topics.

There is a book chosen every month. And if you have a recommendation, please send us a message! I will put it on the list and we will get to it sooner than later! Promise!

And a Christian Women’s book club

Aside from this being an online Christian book club, see it also as a community of readers: for support, for prayers and building friendships.

Does a group like that interest you? Let us know so we can start one either on Instagram or FB or both!

Or let us know how we can best serve your needs. What is something you’d like to get out of this book club?

Christian Book of the Month: Learning to Lead Like Jesus

The complete title is Learning to Lead Like Jesus: 11 Principles to Help You Serve, Inspire, and Equip Others written by Boyd Bailey.

I think this book may be great for anyone. When we read the word “lead” or “leaders” we may think the ministry leaders at church or managers/CEOs of companies. But not so!

If you lead/manage a home, if you have kids, co-workers you deal with on the regular, friends, siblings, grocery store clerk, anyone who you talk to can be someone you lead.

To read this book completely free, make sure you have a library card and download the app: CloudLibrary. Login with your library card and search for the book “Learning to Lead like Jesus” — BOOM! Free ebook or audio book!

There’s also the Hoopla app which works with your library card as well. Check out your library’s website — you will find what they use on there.

If you prefer to have the physical copy, I added the Amazon link above which is an affiliate link. This means a (very, very, very) small percentage of your purchase will go to me, which helps me maintain this blog!

But trust me, I go for the free version because I get it: I am currently a student and I try to save as much as possible.

If you’d still like the physical book, to grab it cheaper, look for the used version on Amazon. Sometimes, they go for $2! That’s what I do if I can’t find it on the free apps with my library card.

2021 Reading Challenge

Just to let you know, I no longer set a # goal of books to read in the year because it causes me to speed read and keeps me too focused on hitting my goal without really enjoying the book or even applying what I’ve learned.

Now, I take notes and put into practice what I learn. I really enjoy that so much more. I’m getting the juice out these books!

That being said, I don’t really have a reading challenge except to read 1 book a month, grow in faith and lead others to Christ!

We won’t impose a 2021 reading challenge on this online Christian book club. Maybe we will consider it for next year… let us know your thoughts on that!

Do you have a personal 2021 reading challenge?

Let me know if you do!

I will be back at the end of January with the review for Learning to Lead Like Jesus by Boyd Bailey.
