Rather than starting at one end of the 2,200-mile Appalachian Trail and hiking to the other, Flip Flop thruhikers hike to both ends of the trail, starting from somewhere in the middle. This group of Flip Flop thruhikers started in Harpers Ferry during the 2018 Flip Flop Festival. Photo courtesy of Appalachian Trail Conservancy.

Celebrate the Appalachian Trail and the region’s outdoors. AT thruhiker Therese “Bangles” Coad will share her adventures, followed by roots/folk duo Rockwood Taylor. Cash bar and taco bar (with vegan options) available. Other events through the weekend include hiker and AT workshops, a pancake breakfast, and a family hike.
