Is Kosovo a country or not?

International recognition of Kosovo, since its declaration of independence from Serbia started on 17 February 2008. But the international community is divided on the issue. As of September 2020, 98 out of 193 (51%) United Nations (UN) member states, 22 out of 27 (81%) European Union (EU) member states, 26 out of 30 (87%) NATO member states, and 33 out of 57 (58%) Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states have recognised Kosovo.
