LAS VEGAS -- The NHL is headed back to Fenway Park for the 2023 Winter Classic. Commissioner Gary Bettman announced on Friday that the Boston Bruins will host the Jan. 1 outdoor game. Fenway Park previously hosted the Winter Classic in 2010, when the Bruins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-1, in overtime. Boston's opponent has yet to be determined. However, there is heavy speculation it will be the Pittsburgh Penguins given that the Fenway Sports Group now owns both Fenway Park and the team, with that sale approved by the NHL in Dec. 2021. How Is the NHL Playoff Bracket Set Up?With the NHL playoff structure reverted to its regular format in 2022, this is how the seeding will work. There are eight teams from both the Eastern Conference and Western Conference that will make it to the postseason.
