2003 honda odyssey ignition lock cylinder replacement

1.0 out of 5 stars This ended up costing me around $600. It doesn't work.

I bought this and installed it in a 2006 Honda Odyssey because my original one wouldn't allow the key to turn, like at all. The install is super easy if you have a little bit of experience doing this kind of stuff. There was only 1 problem........IT DOESN'T WORK! Going in I knew once it was installed I would have to program the new keys to the vehicle. So I called an automotive locksmith that I know. He told me the keys it comes with are useless, they're essentially toy keys, nothing worked. The locksmith bill then went up to $420 cause we tried everything possible. So now this $160 part has cost me over $600. It is what it is, I sold the vehicle as is and im down to 1 vehicle because I blew my money on this part.

If you have common sense, then you will get this unit to work very easily. This product saved me about $1000. I bought this for a 2004 Honda Civic LX automatic. With a few small pieces of plastic trimmed from the turn signal cluster, this unit barely fit on the steering column. After comparison to the stock unit, there were significant differences between the two. The steering wheel lock will not work because this unit does not seat fully on the steering column, but everything does line up for when you put the plastic trim back together, and all harnesses simply plug in to the new unit. The keys that come with it, have a small compartment that you put your old chip from your old key into. This saves you hundreds from getting your vehicle towed to a dealership, and having them re program a chip for no reason. The end result, looks great and functions perfectly!

Went to Honda dealership to fix my car and they wanted over $1,000.00. Purchased this, took to a locksmith to get it rekeyed for $80, used the old antitheft device and installed myself. Saved over $900.00! YouTube helped out big-time 😂

2003 Honda Civic 4 Door

1. The steering wheel lock will not work! The collar that attaches to the outside of the steering collar is too wide. The slotted lock is too big and will not sit in there properly. Therefore it will never fit right so the wheel will lock.

2. Keys are absolute junk! Not impressed whatsoever! The company could spend about $20 extra and upgrade to nicer keys!

If they could improve these two things it might have worked! But I would rather spend an extra $150 or so to have my steering wheel lock like it should! Many people have mentioned you can “modify” some things to make it fit. Why waste the time and effort? A good quality item will fit properly in the first place and not waste your valuable time!

The chip inside of the key is not good for 2003 Honda CRV !!

Still worth it.

I saved a few dollars and selected this ignition. After a full day trying to get the car running, I finally called the locksmith, who recommended we throw the included keys in the trash. Of course, we couldn't do that, as he knew, because they were cut for the ignition. what they didn't have, however, was the interlock chip to allow them to work with our new ignition. two locksmiths later, and we're finally on the road. My recommendation after all of that, get the replacement ignition from the dealership, and take it to your local locksmith to have it programmed.
