Olive garden strawberry passion fruit limonata recipe

"So about a month ago, we celebrated our daughter’s first birthday! A Mother Goose-themed party, I had to have something for "Jack and Jill" to contribute to the party. I didn’t want plain water, and I didn’t sparkling water. But I did I have some San Pelligrino Limonata (fizzy lemonade) in my stockpile! I ran an extensive search online for drinks using Limonata, but couldn't find much that wasn't alcoholic. I kept reading about people asking for Strawberry Mango Limonata recipes, though. It is apparently a very popular drink at The Olive Garden. I figured, what the heck? "Jack and Jill" probably went up the hill to get water and berries for their mom's lemonade anyway! Well, I can’t vouch that my version is anywhere similar to the Olive Garden version (since I've never had it) but I like it (and so did our guests, young and old). Hope you enjoy it, too!"

Craving a fruity refreshing drink, whether it is hot outside or not? Then you have got to try this sparkling strawberry lemonade, it is so yummy, super refreshing, and really hits the spot.

Growing up I loved drinking a tall glass of lemonade. But my favorite drink of all time has got to be strawberry lemonade. Strawberries are my favorite fruit and lemonade is one of my favorite drinks, so it only makes sense, that it would be my favorite.

Sparkling strawberry lemonade is so incredibly easy to make, if I can do it, you can do it. Let’s gets started!

Step 1: Gather the ingredients

In order to make this delicious homemade sparkling strawberry lemonade you need just a few ingredients:

  • Lemon juice – You can use store-bought or freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  • Sparkling water
  • Sugar
  • Water – Use filtered if you can, unless your tap water tastes really good.
  • Strawberries – Fresh is best to use, although you can use frozen strawberries as well.
  • Sliced Strawberries – These will float on top of the drink in the container.

Tools

  • Bowls
  • Pot
  • Wooden spoon
  • Serving container
  • Food processor or blender

Step 2: How to make homemade sparkling strawberry lemonade

Begin by making a simple syrup. Why make the simple syrup? Well, this ensures the sugar dissolves and you don’t have any granulated sugar taste in your sparkling strawberry lemonade.

Simple syrup is very common in drinks. Pour the normal water into a medium pot and add the sugar. Set the heat to medium-high and bring the water to a boil, stir occasionally. Once the sugar has dissolved and the water is clear, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool for 20 to 30 minutes. The simple syrup is done.

Take about 1/2 a cup of the simple syrup and add it to a blender or food processor. Then add in the fresh strawberries, or frozen if that is all that you have. Blend until the strawberries are broken down.

Tip: You can always add more strawberries than the recipe calls for, if you like.

Pour the strawberry puree into some sort of serving container or pitcher. Then add in the rest of the simple syrup.

Tip: If you don’t like your lemonade really sweet, only start with half of the simple syrup. You can always add more of it in later after you taste it.

Finally add in the sparkling water and the lemon juice. Stir and taste!

After tasting the sparkling strawberry lemonade, you can easily make adjustments. Add more of the simple syrup, add a bit more lemon juice, etc.

I also like to take slices of strawberry and drop them in so they can float on the top. Mint leaves are also a nice touch.

If you like slice up a whole strawberry and fan it out and stick to the top of the glass, to make it fancy looking. Enjoy!

How long does sparkling strawberry lemonade last?

If stored in the fridge the drink will last a few days. Although it will lose its sparkle/fizz, like soda. It tastes the best when freshly made.

  • Bowls

  • pot

  • Wooden spoon

  • Serving container

  • Food processor or blender

  • 1 cup of lemon juice freshly squeezed or bottled (235mL)
  • 6 cups of sparkling water 1410mL
  • 2 cups of sugar 450g
  • 2 cups of filtered water or good tasting tap water (470mL)
  • 2 cups of strawberries you can add more(400g)
  • sliced strawberries to float on the top

  • Pour the two cups of white granulated sugar and 2 cups of filtered water into a sauce pot and bring it to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once you get it to a bowl take it off the heat and let it cool for 20 to 30 minutes.

  • Now take about 1/2 cup of the simple syrup and put it in a food processor or blender. Then add in the 2 cups of strawberries, you can definitely use more strawberries then 2 cups if you like. Then blend the ingredients together.

  • Pour the strawberry puree into a serving container, then add in the rest of the simple syrup (or only half if you don't want it really sweet, you can always add in more after to sweeten it up).

Then add in the sparkling water and the lemon juice. Next, stir it all together with a long spoon.

  • Add some sliced strawberries to float around on the top, if you like. Also, you may want to add some fresh mint leaves to float on the top as well.

Serve it in a cup of ice. I don't recommend adding a bunch of ice directly to the container of lemonade, it gets diluted quickly. I find individual glasses of ice is better. But you can do what you like. Enjoy!
