Hello I couldnt find anything on this topic or with the question I have answered. Is it possible to paint the fender flars on the sport model jk to have them look like the Sahara?

Thats all they did with the sahara was to use factory paint on them before they installed them. Painting after the fact is a little difficult.

I'd take it to the shop so itd be after the fact. They just paint the flares? even though theyre bumpy and textured? I have a hard time believing that. How do they prep the flares?

I wouldn't waste the money if I was you, plenty of people here get rid of their painted stock fenders for cheap. Start a thread in the wanted section with the color you're looking for, I'm sure you can get a set shipped for under $200

Honestly I pulled my painted flares off my Sahara and replaced them with the textured factory flares. I like the color contrast. That and when I do go to trim them I'm not worried about paint.

From my
experience, paint won't stick to the textured flares. It will scrape off easily.
Personally, I think the painted flares make a Jeep look like a run of the mill SUV.

They would have to be sanded down, primed, and a flex agent added to the paint.

I always thought the sahara flares were a little wider than stock. I would also say that there will be ones for sale pretty regularly....i know they will be one of the first things i take off when i start my build up.

If you can find a set for under $200 shipped I would be hella surprised. The shipping on a couple of fenders is stupidly expensive, I couldn't imagine all 4 of them without someone taking a bath on shipping.
