As far as gutters, water is not collecting near the foundation from what I can tell.. water is also not backing up in the gutters. I clean them out about twice a year.
As far as paint, my house siding is "T#" (I think it's called T10 or something like that).. I don't see any rot, but there are places where the paint is flaking and I can see the bare "T10" board.
Also I was told I need a new roof because I have 3 layers on there.. it's not leaking and I clean all moss off of it every summer and put a powder moss killer on it.. I was quoted $10k to $20k, so that wont be replaced for near 3 to 5 years. Unless it starts leaking before then..

Gutters first or paint first?
I want to have gutters installed on my home and I'd also like to have my entire exterior painted a different color than what it is currently. I'm curious if it's easier to paint the exterior first then pick a color of gutter as close to the new house color or should I install the gutters first then just paint everything at once?

It would be best to pick your color based on the gutter selection.
That said, there is no better time to prime/paint behind the gutter than when it's removed or before installation.

Thanks for the info! I figured it would be easier with no gutters, but wasn't sure how easy the aluminum "paintable" gutters would be to paint.

Aluminum gutters paint well, just be sure they are clean. That includes any oil that might be on them from the manufacturing process. It wouldn't hurt to mix in a little emulsa bond to the 1st coat of paint you apply on the new gutters. Emulsa bond helps with adhesion.

We are going to have new gutters installed, and we are going to paint ourselves. What to do 1st? Paint, or have the gutters installed?

Optimal to paint first, but if the wood is in good shape, I've seen an awful lot of homes that never painted the trim before the gutters went up.

Prime and paint the fascia first, if at all possible. Everything else can be painted later. If you're worried about leaning ladders against the gutter, get yourself a pair of ladder stand-offs so that you don't lean the ladder directly against the new gutters.

I agree!! You will never have another chance to paint behind the new gutters.
