How to graph inequalities on a number line calculator

Linear Inequalities Calculator is a free online tool that displays the number line for the given linear inequality equation. BYJU’S online linear inequalities calculator tool makes the calculation faster and it displays the number line in a fraction of seconds.

How to Use the Linear Inequalities Calculator?

The procedure to use the linear inequalities calculator is as follows:

Step 1: Enter the linear inequality in the input field

Step 2: Now click the button “Solve” to get the number line graph

Step 3: Finally, the number line for the solution of given linear inequality equation will be displayed in the new window

What is Meant by Linear Inequalities?

In mathematics, a linear inequality is defined as the linear function with inequalities. The linear inequality function should possess any of the inequalities signs, such as less than (<), greater than (>), less than or equal to (≤), greater than or equal to (≥) symbols. The linear function has one dependent variable and one independent variable. The linear inequality function can be classified into two types, namely:

  • Linear Inequality in one variable
  • Linear inequality in two variables

An example of a linear inequality is: -x+3 >2x+1

Graphing an inequality on a number line, is very similar to graphing a number. For instance, look at the top number line x = 3. We just put a little dot where the '3' is, right?

Now an inequality uses a greater than, less than symbol, and all that we have to do to graph an inequality is find the the number, '3' in this case and color in everything above or below it.

Just remember
  • if the symbol is (≥ or ≤) then you fill in the dot, like the top two examples in the graph below
  • if the symbol is (> or <) then you do not fill in the dot like the bottom two examples in the graph below

To better understand how to graph inequalities, look at the examples below or experiment with the grapher that is immediately below.

How about some more particulars about your difficulty with graph inequalities on a number line calculator? I might be able to give some information on . If you are not able to get a good assistance or some one to sit and sort out your problem or if the cost is too high , then there might be another way out . There are some good math programs that you can explore. I checked them out myself. It came across to me as superb as any tutor can be. I would select Algebrator for the kind of elucidation that you are in the look out for. What is pretty about it is that it takes you step by step to the solutions rather than merely providing the answer. Why not give it a try ?

I agree. Algebrator not only gets your homework done faster, it actually improves your understanding of the subject by providing useful tips on how to solve similar problems . It is a very popular software among students so you should try it out.

Algebrator is the program that I have used through several math classes - Algebra 2, College Algebra and Algebra 2. It is a truly a great piece of algebra software. I remember of going through problems with factoring expressions, equivalent fractions and linear algebra. I would simply type in a problem homework, click on Solve – and step by step solution to my algebra homework. I highly recommend the program.

How do you graph an inequality on a number line?

To plot an inequality, such as x>3, on a number line, first draw a circle over the number (e.g., 3). Then if the sign includes equal to (≥ or ≤), fill in the circle. If the sign does not include equal to (> or <), leave the circle unfilled in.
