BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (AHA 2020 Guidelines)

The American Heart Association BLS Class is designed for Healthcare Providers and geared toward training individuals currently working in healthcare or planning a career in healthcare. The students will learn adult, child, and infant CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator, or AED.

Because this CPR class is for healthcare providers, there will be added training on how to use and perform rescue breaths using a bag valve mask. At the end of the class, the student will have time dedicated to learning how to rescue a choking infant, children, and adults. The students will also have plenty of hands-on practice using the latest in feedback manikin devices to master the skills of BLS for Healthcare Providers.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THE BLS CERTIFICATION COURSE?

Healthcare professionals and other personnel need to have the skills to perform CPR and other Basic Cardiovascular Life Support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

BLS stands for Basic Life Support and includes techniques used to save a victim in the case of an emergency. In this course, we will discuss and teach the steps that you should take to give a dying victim the greatest chance of survival. These techniques include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.

This online BLS course is free. You have the option to purchase your BLS Certification after completing the online lessons. You will receive a printable certificate and signed wallet card mailed directly to you. The certification is optional and you do not have to pay anything to take the online class.

How to Get Certified in BLS

Once you have finished the free BLS course, you are offered an assessment exam and the opportunity to get your certification for as low as $13.95. The online BLS certification is valid for new certifications and renewals.

How long does it take to get BLS Certified?

The online BLS Certification course takes 2-3 hours to complete. The BLS training material takes about 2 hours to go through and the BLS certification exam takes about 1 hour to complete. You can re-take the exam if you do not pass the first time. We recommend going through the course material carefully so you pass the exam on the first try.

If you choose to get your BLS certification online after passing the Free class, you will receive a printable certificate and wallet card immediately and an official wallet card will be signed by the instructor and mailed within 1 business day.

The BLS training course is administered by accredited instructors with over 12 years of experience. Instructors are standing by to answer any questions you might have regarding the course training material. Online BLS certifications offered by American BLS+ are nationally accepted and are valid for 2 years.

BLS/CPR Course Online Provided by American BLS

The BLS/CPR Course covers conventional CPR techniques, Hands-Only CPR, Basic Life Support (BLS), choking, and AED use. The course covers the techniques for adults, infants, and children. The course is administered online and uses a combination of written text, pictures, and video to illustrate the curriculum. After the course, an assessment quiz is administered to test the knowledge of the course material and you will receive your BLS certification online.

Is BLS Certification hard?

The short answer? No, the class is not generally considered difficult – however, compared to lay rescuer CPR & First Aid classes, there is a greater amount of information covered and the skill requirements are slightly more technical.

How long does BLS take to learn?

How long Does it take to get a BLS Certification? The American Red Cross instructor-led (classroom only) course takes about 4 hours to complete. It covers everything needed to know to get a BLS certification and also includes time for testing.

Is BLS the same as CPR?

Basic life support (BLS) includes CPR but is an overall higher level of medical care typically administered by public safety professionals, first responders, paramedics, healthcare providers, and qualified bystanders.

How long does heart Code BLS take?

A: HeartCode BLS takes students approximately one hour to two hours to complete, depending on their level of experience.
