The Fisher Scientific PU1309 Maxima Diaphragm Vacuum Pump is a compact benchtop design pump, with simple set up and disassembly, no special tools required. It is a clean, very easy to use oil-free vacuum pump ideally used for low boiling point rotary evaporation and distillation, filtration blotting, and solid phase extraction. The Fisher Scientific MaximaDry Oil-Free Vacuum Pump has the ability to be used with aggressive solvents without the risk of damaging the pump, this is because the diaphragm and pump heads are coated and molded in PTFE (a soft, nontoxic fluoropolymer with little to no friction, so few materials stick to it). The high-flow, multiport valves are also made from FFPM fluoropolymer to withstand heavy solvent vapors and liquid condensate without a loss in performance, and the fan cooled (TEFC) motor is rated for continuous operation and never requires lubrication. It is a quiet, reliable operation without the hazards of handling pump oil or contaminated water.

All of our equipment is fully tested to perform at factory specifications before being shipped.

What causes vacuum pump failure?

Almost every case of premature dry vacuum pump failure can be traced to one of three causes: contamination, overstress, or faulty installation.

How long should vacuum pumps last?

The vacuum pump is designed to last a lifetime, but usually this will not happen due to the harsh conditions in which it has to operate. There are a variety of issues that can lead to the vacuum pump not working properly, which is why you will need to keep an eye peeled for warning signs.

What does the vacuum pump control?

A vacuum pump's main function is to change the pressure in a contained space to create a full or partial vacuum either mechanically or chemically. Pressure will always try to equalize across connected regions as gas molecules flow from high to low to fill the entire area of that volume.
